New 2016 2LT upgrades

Hi All,

Just got my 2LT in Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. I went with this version over the Premier because I loved the Black accented unique rims and black cloth interior. I have blacked out the gold bow ties on front, back and steering wheel. Looks awesome, but would prefer real black and chrome emblems on the car. Hopefully this will be a gm part or aftermarket part soon.I am adding heated seats for our cold winters here and got the lighted sill plates but looking at few other upgrades.

Looking at a few more wish list upgrades and thought this would be a great thread for advice and reference for the like minded.

1) Hidden/integrated subwoofer to enhance the sound a bit. I don't have the Bose package.

2. Upgrade to LED headlights. These are listed at 9005SL+, which are awesome halogens but I'd like the headlamps to match the running LEDs, like on the premier. I looked under the hood and changing these bulbs doesn't look very easy. I had access to the driver side but couldn't twist out the cover to see what the bulbs look like. The passenger side, you have to remove the air intake to access the light bulb area. I was researching the bulbs, and it sounds the comparable bulb would be 9012's but I didn't see any dual H/L beam like the 9005SL+'s in the car already. Any won did this upgrade yet?

3. LED Tail lights. I don't see any available, but the Premier has factory rear LED Tails. I can't even find the parts online since the vehicle is so new, but I am guessing they will be in the $500 range from GM. Hopefully there will be some good aftermarket options soon.

Loving the car though. Here's a few pics from last week when I picked it up. I will post some more with the black emblems as soon as I put the steering wheel emblem on.

I have LED headlights. Cost me 90 bucks and looks great. I didn't even know the premier came with LED tail lights.

Re: New 2016 2LT upgrades

Can you tell me more about your LED light you put in?

Like what size they are, where you bought them, and how you installed them?

Also, do you have the auto high beam function? The push button on the wiper arm for the lights that auto sense and turn on the brights when needed when you push it with the light on or in auto.

I bet they do look great.

Re: New 2016 2LT upgrades

Here's a quick pic of the steering wheel with the black overlay...

They fit really good and pretty easy to put on, took 5 minutes or less. The pic looks like there a scratch on it, but it must just be a reflection. Looks better on the wheel than in the pic, same for the front and rears. I will put those up later after it is cleaned up again.

I bought the overlays on ebay, pretty cheap and pre-cut...steering wheel (2) for $7.50

Front and Rear, pre-cut for $9.50 each

I bought they from my local tint shop. But it's easy to do. Just unscrew the back cover of the headlight housing. They're plug and play. The right one is kind of tricky. You have to remove the air intake. I really recommend you drill a few holes in the housing cover because they heat needs an escape route.

About the high beam thing, I'm not sure what you're saying.. What I do know is that I believe it's the same bulb. There is a little flipper inside that controls the light output. That is why the low beam have a perfect horizontal angle. Ask someone to flip them from high to low while you're out looking so you can see what I am talking about.. You can hear the little flipper moving..

Size I think was h11.. I'll have to confirm that.

Damn, I just paid $13.95 for those exact bowtie vinyl stickers from the same company SlickMod on Amazon. Wish I had seen your Ebay link sooner. Ah well.

I just checked and found that they're $8.50 for a set of front/rear for the Gen7! Guess what I ordered?

Re: New 2016 2LT upgrades

I tried to order new ones for my '16 from Grafxwerks.com, but they don't have them on their site yet. I inquired about when they would have them, and was told that GM has to approve them first, and they would probably be available in the fall. The only reason I can fathom that they need GM approval is that the bowtie is copyrighted, and Grafxwerks is licensing the design from GM, and probably paying a royalty. I had overlays from them on my '13, and they were great. Good fit, and never peeled. It was even difficult to remove them when I turned my car in after the lease expired.

Note - The overlays on Ebay in kman1971's post are NOT compatible with the 2016 Premier. I also looked at the overlays that nutcrunch ordered, but the reviews are bad. I'll have to wait until the fall to get them from Grafxwerks.

Re: New 2016 2LT upgrades

Yea Joel,

I agree you need it to match the year, but with it being so new, nobody has anything and a lot of things match the 15 model, just have to be approved. So for a few bucks for the wrap, I took the chance. The ones I got for front and back could fit better. The steering wheel is perfect. They ones for the front and back come with large bow-ties too, i guess for trucks in the packet, so I used those and tried to trim them and still couldn't get it right without seeing a little gold.

So I took another chance on some emblem inserts from the link below. You have to drill out the gold section, the gold section pops out and then replace with the insert that is 3M taped in it's place. Saw this on youtube too when I was looking at how wrap and plasti-dip the bow-ties. I think this will be the cleanest/stock looking of them all. I am just crossing my fingers they match the 16's or will be returning and waiting and making due with my crappy wrap until then.
