Oil Change

Has anyone done their own oil change yet? If so any details on filter location and tips?

Re: Oil Change

Make sure they're not included in your maintenance with the dealer. I believe i got 2 years free oil changes.

I would not let the dealer touch my car for an oil change.

Re: Oil Change

I've had mine done by the dealer for the last year with no problem. When the free ones are done, I will do my own w/Amsoil products.

Re: Oil Change

Where is the oil filter. I looked under the hood and did not see it (aka the 2011-2016 Equinox). Is it a standard setup you get to from underneath the car?

Re: Oil Change

I found it hard to find oil filters for the 1.5L so I spoke with a mechanic the other day.

AC Delco: PF64 Series ACDelco PF64 Oil Filter

Fram: 10060 Series Fram XG10060 Oil Filter

Napa: 7060 Series Napa 7060 Gold Series Oil Filter

Re: Oil Change

So my '16 Malibu is at 3100 miles. Do I:

A) Change the motor oil because the first change should be early to clear any contaminants.

B) Are you crazy? Wait unit the oil indicator says you should change.

C) Wait but continue to monitor dip stick for oil level until change at 7000.
