I have a 2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx and i went to autozone to get a fuel filter and they didn't have one cause the computer said it was in-serviceable. The guy said that it was because It was in the fuel tank and that i needed to take it to a mechanic. Does anyone now if it can be done without taking it to a mechannic?
Sorry but it seems that the only fuel filter on your's would be the sock thats on the fuel pump in the tank. I don't even think Chevrolet has a recommendation on replacing it.
Talk with the service department at the dealer about this, but I don't think they recommend doing anything.
I checked in the service manual looking for the fuel filter as it was not on the owner maintenance schedule. "Fuel Filter" is not listed in the index. It appears that there isn't one to change.
I am also not finding information regarding the fuel filter in the owner's manual. I would assume that this means that it is an item that is inservicable as you described above. I would recommend contacting your local dealership for more specific information regarding this concern. Please feel free to keep me updated. Thank you in advance.
