Re: TRUNK ACCESS problem!

Speaking of glare - the chrome in our '11 1LT on the latch for the dash bin and around the vents always relfects the sun right into my eyes during several parts of the day. Got it covered up with tape right now trying to figure out a more permanent solution... FWIW, it's not the only new vehicle I've driven with that problem, I just wonder what they are thinking with flashy chrome where it can reflect into the driver's eyes.

They drive Bimmers and Porsches that don't have those annoyances!

Re: TRUNK ACCESS problem!

Glare off the top of the dash shouldn't be a problem, as the textures and colors are usually engineered to prevent that very issue. I've not noticed it myself, though I do admit that I usually wear my vintage Nikon (glass) polarized sunglasses when driving in bright sunlight.

Is there any chance that a "detailing" job mught have included wiping down that area with Armour All or similar plastic treatment? Those silicon-based compounds have a way of sitting on top of the otherwise dull plastic and making it shine.

BTW, I never got any sign of glare off the surface of the dash on my BMW, though I admit that car never saw the likes of any Armour All.

Re: TRUNK ACCESS problem!

I have the cocoa/cashmere (tan/brown) interior. The largest part of the dash is brown and there is very little glare, but the IP bump is tan and frequently hinders a clear view of the road.

I've been looking into a dash cover but still haven't heard of anyone using one so I don't know if there are any good ones out there.

I imagine the tan section is just as bad as my light gray sections.
I got mine from Rock Auto, I forget the brand but for my '09 it came in 3 pieces.
Price was cheap IMO from RA and color and fabric choices galore.
1 section covers darker color & other 2 cover the lighter shade areas of the dash. I'm not happy having to cover the dash BUT at least I can see out of the windshield now in bright sun / light conditions.
I'm only covering the instrument binnacle and the darker dash section. Light gray on pass. side is not covered.
I went with a dark gray color, it's held on with velcro tabs.
Armor All never used on dash here, it's all about light colors reflecting back in that steep windshield.

Re: TRUNK ACCESS problem!

Thanks for the info! What fabric did you get - do you recall? I had a dash cover in another car but it was a shiny fabric that sometimes caught the sun at different angles and reflected it, though not as badly as the overall light dash did. I want something as flat (color) as possible.

Got pics???
