Does anyone know these errors?

Hello All I need help with the following error codes on my 06 Malibu, 124,000 miles.

P0463, P0420, P2176, P0101 and P0300.

**Car Symptoms: drives okay except when I put pedal down, responds very bumpy and dies down, also going up hill I can only go about 20 MPH tops. No power. One more issue is my fuel gauge: Goes from F to E and E to F. I use the miles traveled to determine my gas level. When it is at 280 trip miles I refill vehicle.**

Are there any recalls for these? Saw a lot of discussion regarding the 0463 Cat converter, that the dealers did not even know about? Is there any hope in me getting these covered by GM?

If not, what does fixing these codes take and what can I expect to pay for them to be fixed by dealership vs cost of DIY.

Thanks for ANY help!
Dan

Re: Does anyone know these errors?

The 0463 is the fuel sending unit, I think... Had that code come up on another GM product...
The 0420 pertains to the cat/o2 sensors... I would begin by changing upstream and downstream o2 sensors
The 0101 is a MAF code... Locate and clean the sensor, to start...
Don't know the meaning of 2176 code
0300 is random misfire...usually the result of something else being wrong...

To start, clean the MAF sensor and (replace if you want)spark plugs, clear the codes and go for a drive... Once the car is accurately measuring airflow, lots of other codes may disappear... Report any codes that come back after the first attempt...

The fuel sending unit code means the unit (or wiring)is bad and needs replaced... No cheap solution there...

My daily:

2007 Chevy Malibu LS
L61, 4T45, 152k miles
Lots of aero mods, goal of 40mpg highway...

My toy:

2004 Saturn Ion Redline
LSJ, F35, 167k on chassis, ZZP S3 pkg
2.8" pulley
Full intake, header, and exhaust

Freshened engine, with ported head, 82#valve springs, and water/meth coming soon!

Call GM customer service. Dealers tend to "forget" about warranty items. The catalytic converter and the fuel sending unit are covered by special extended warranties. Have your VIN handy when you call GM. Do it right away, before the special coverage expires.

Re: Does anyone know these errors?

There saying the fuel sending unit is not covered by warranty

the cat converter is but it expired on July 2016... Im arguing now with the guy on the phone - My car has been in a GM dealership twice in past two years with other warranty issues - NO one brought up the fact that the CAT Converters were also covered?? Trying to get this thing replaced and covered BY Chevy since they have a terrible product.. Such a joke - This malibu has been nothing but a nightmare.

Re: Does anyone know these errors?

No offense, but it IS a 2006 model... Parts can and do occasionally fail... Ten years out of a catalytic converter isn't too bad, if it's actually dead... I still recommend cleaning the MAF sensor and spark plugs before assuming something bigger is wrong...
