Check Engine Light Codes P0113 / P0114 2.4L 4cyl engine

Hello All.. 2009 Malibu 1LT... Just had the car in for this check engine light, it came on when idling, and gas tank near empty.. Stayed on.. Long story short, I took it to the dealer a few days later, they scanned it (51 bux), came up with codes P0113 and P0114..
History Faults: Test & OHM Actuator
Then it said Solenoids & All Test OK No current fault noted. Then they cleared the computer, told me to drive it and let them know if it came back on... And 2 or 3 starts later it came back on the same day. Argh.

Any ideas? Anything I can tell them to make it easier, and is this a Powertrain Warranty item?

Thanks all.

yes, they're covered under the powertrain. i don't even test them anymore as they are a high failure rate part. i wrote this for the G6 forum but every word still applies to your car:

i'd return it to the dealer while the CEL is on ASAP. should not cost anything if you're still covered.

Thanks.. It was an exhaust valve sticking (?) if I heard him correctly.. Haven't had a chance to look at the paper, but they fixed it and the light is off now. I'll post back exactly what it was once I get the paper.. It was covered under warranty, but now I have to work on getting my scan fee refunded..

exhaust camshaft position (CMP) actuator solenoid though it has several aliases.

it's a very common issue for that ecotec engine. dealer has to do it by the book i suppose to get gm to reimburse them. too bad that results in wasted time in comebacks for their car owners. the intake solenoid will go bad soon enough & set a 10 or 11 code. hopefully you'll still be under the powertrain warranty though the part isn't expensive or hard to replace.

So what does the part do actually, does it put the second cam shaft in position for increased engine speed? I guess I'll expect the intake one to go bad soon too.. Thanks for your help!

the CMP actuator solenoid valves control the oil pressure that is applied to advance or retard a camshaft. they are part of the camshaft actuator system. essentially it gives the ECM some control over valve timing.
