Sorry it's long, but here it is. A few months back I was getting some clunking and weird noises in the steering. So I took it in and the dealer replaced the steering rack, and intermediate shaft. Clunking and most of the noises gone, I just felt and heard some minor things when backing up or turning very slowly at low speeds. But since the main issue was fixed I was happy.
Soooooo.
I have been using a new dealer close to work for oil changes etc. When the car was there to have the dash pad replaced (see other thread, done perfectly) I mentioned, "hey can you look at the steering". When I pick the car up I ask if they heard it and found anything. Well they did hear it, and they fixed it. Turns out the lead tech is like one of the best Epsilon guys in the country and said some cars have issues with a power steering line being to close to a part of the chassis and it will ground out and make for a very slight loss of power steering and some odd noises. Just what I had! He just had to remount the line and it totally fixed it! So if any of you have the same issue, and I know I have read it. Try having your dealer look into this.
