So when i was coming home from work i noticed that my car began to overheat. So i went ahead and pulled over to let my car cool. So i went ahead and added water as needed. As i did alot of water spilled out. I didnt think much of it. But when i began to drive i noticed that my transmission wont shift past the 2nd gear. It just reved high, but didnt go past the 2nd gear. Ive been doing some research and read that i could of very well got water in to a speed sensor. Can anyone confirm this for me?? The engine is a 3.1.
Can you also let me know where these sensors are located? Thank you very much.
Ok, so to give you guys an update this is what i have tried so far.
First i added fuel as needed, which wasnt much.
Second i went ahead and disconnected the battery for 30 minutes to see if it resets anything.
Then third i replaced the transmission speed sensor, since i read somewhere that that can be my problem.
So far no luck. If someone can please help me out it would be greatly appreciated. And since this is my work car, im pretty much stuck. Thanks again guys.
So i went ahead and took it to a transmission service center. They scanned it and told me the following:
It has a U1000 code on the system. It is something electrical. And can be Body Control Module(BCM), Engine Control Module(ECM), or something that is tied to Antilock Brake System(ABS), Traction Control System(TCS), or SDM.
So next step will be to take it to an electrical shop. Unless someone can help me out and save me some cash. Thanks.

In a word, no. They wanted more than the car was worth to do the repair. I had it evaluated where the problem started while i was on a road trip. I have local mechanics that have better than reasonable rates on it right now. I should be back on the road by the end of the week.
