trying to paint grill

Has anyone ever painted there grill? If so is there a link to what you followed? I have painted my bow ties so I am fimiliar with the whole paint process. I am stumped on either removing the grill completely and doing it that way or just tape real good around it and paint it while its on. What are your guys thoughts!?

Re: trying to paint grill

Painted mine. Remove bumper, 8 screws to remove both grille inserts from inside.

Painted the front and rear. I figured that if there was no edge then it won't peel. Had it painted for 2 years and 33K miles. No peeling!

Re: trying to paint grill

Where are those 8 bolts located on the inside? Are they easy to access?

Re: trying to paint grill

Remove bumper and it wants to fall to the ground face down, which is how you'll see the screws. (Been a while but pretty sure there are 8.) Easy to access and makes it so you don't have to tape off anything and get parting lines or any other problems like that.

I've had several people look at the results on my grilles and they thought they were factory! I'm nowhere near a professional painter - more like a professional glopper - and they turned out this good. If I can do it you can, too! Not a cliche this time - it really is that easy.
