Nice.

I really debated that route but goin for casket like damping and a front firing T Line.

Ok, I give. What the heck is "casket-like damping", what's a "front firing T line", and what other options are there when deciding on those?

Can ya tell this is interesting to me but that I also know nothing about the subject? TIA!

Lots of noise control.....such as Dynamat which is a brand not the material.

T Line enclosure....just search it...easier

Front firing....properly done is firing into the cabin from trunk but sealed from the trunk as to avoid cancellation.

Im assuming the OP is porting thru the deck.

Re: SKAR Audio MaliBOOM v2-SBN Build!

So here's what I learned so far:

A T-line, or transmission line, enclosure is supposed to use an infinitely long line of sound-absorbent material that fully damps all rear radiation of the driver down to the lowest frequencies. The density of the material changes to prevent reflections (too tight) and leakage (too loose) through the vent.

A variation of the T-line enclosure uses a tapered tube that is larger at the back of the driver and smaller at the terminus of the port. Bose uses a similar technology that has been patented.

Additionally there is the TQWP, tapered quarter-wave pipe. It is smaller at the back of the driver and increases in size as it approaches the terminus of the port. The idea with a TQWP is to absorb any reflected sound so that it does not get transmitted through the cone of the speaker and to act as an extended compression chamber.

So, a front-firing T-line must be using a port facing the listener that is at the end of a chamber that is tapered from large at the driver to small at the port opening.

Whew! Just getting this far has blown my mind! Hmmm, our ears are designed is such an intelligent way!

Re: SKAR Audio MaliBOOM v2-SBN Build!

1/4 wave theory is pretty nuts.....research Pyschoacoustics if you wanna get into the stuff that makes you think.....the way you shop for audio will change forever...lol

Theres a difference in hearing and listening. FAR beyond what can be achieved in a vehicle but nailing as much of the technicalities is fun. Im a fan of being noisy too tho.

Re: SKAR Audio MaliBOOM v2-SBN Build!

subscribed...your plans on the ext are clean, i like that! Always been a home/car stereo guy but never to this extent but nice to see some serious people still out there!

No laughing but is SKAR a SQ or DB brand? I cant say ive heard of them ever but with that being said if i have a memphis PR1.1000 and want to run a single 12" w/o breaking the bank and getting a solid sounding woofer, what you got in mind? I run a JVC hemp fiber 12" and its ok but i was in a JVC faze back in the day and this this is still running strong off this amp running a 4ohm load with it being a dual 2 wired in series since it obviously couldnt handle the full 1000w, lol.

But keep up the good work, very good clean work!
