How to remove 08 Malibu seats adding leather seat covers!!!!!

Just ordered a leather kit for our 08 Malibu ls and was wondering if anybody could tell me how to remove all the seats? I noticed the front seats have airbags and don't want them going off during the install. My main question is how to remove the top section of the rear seats how do they come out? If anybody has done this or have any tips or tricks putting the leather on I'd greatly appreciate it. Do the factory seats use hog rings?

your better off removing the rails from the frame, its only 2 huge torx bolt for each seat. Where did you order a leather seat kit?

Remove the front seats by removing the two rear bolts. Then slide the seat back a couple inches to detach it from the floor. Then tilt it forward to get better access to the electrical connectors under the seat. Once everything is unplugged, remove the seat from the car.

And dont worry about the air bags. Its extremely difficult to accidently blow them. Also the fabric is held to the countours of the foam with hog rings. I have picture of me disassembling a seat from my Saturn Aura. Identical seats to the Malibus. In fact, I swapped my Aura's original gray interior and seats with black interior panels from an Aura and black seats from a Malibu.

Once my pictures are done uploading, I'll post them here. Theres a lot. About 70.

Both. On the seat bottom. The seat backs and bolsters also have staples.

There is a clip towards the top/back of the seat side bolsters. I reach in from the side with the seat back down with some long needle nose pliers to compress the clip a bit. Then pull forward from the top then up and out.

The seat bottom just unclips. There are two clips about 1/3 of the way in from each corner.Just grab the seat bottom on the front edge and pull up. Once the front of the seat is free, slide it forward and out.

For the seat backs, you remove two torx bolts from each outside corner where it pivots. Once you remove the bolts, the seatback can slide out from the inside pivot.

I'll start posting them. Like I said before, there is just over 70 of them and I'm not sure the rules here about posting that many pictures. If there is an issue with it, hopefully a mod can direct me with the proper way of doing it.

If there is any question about any picture, just quote the picture and ask. I'll be sure to answer.
