Check engine light

New to the forum. I bought a 2013 mlibu with 50 000 kms on it about 6 months ago. Love it so far.

Today i Sprayed my car down and cleaned her up nice. Was finished drying it off and I fire up the engine to an engine light on. I turn it off take the gas cap off and tighten it back on. Start it up same thing, light on. Turn it off give it a few minutes maybe 5 minutes I'd say. And it is gone this time. Drive for about 20 minutes and its back on. Could it be the gas cap seal is starting to go? I am going to get it checked out on my next oil change which is coming up. However just thought I'd get some opinions

Thanks

It could be anything. You need to go somewhere to have the codes checked. Dealerships, Auto part stores, etc.

Why do you think it has to do with the gas cap? Did you take your gas cap off when drying the car and forget to tighten it when you started the car?

Re: Check engine light

Just thought maybe the seal on the gas cap isnt working properly which would throw up an engine light...Due to the fact that it comes on and off (the engine light)
