Hey - I just joined because I just bought a 2010 Malibu!
Brown exterior, black interior, 2lt with a USB radio, a spare tire and fancy floor mats as the options.

List: $26,280.
Discounts: $3,500 from GM, $1,500 from dealer, $1,500 because I bought a 2008 Saturn.
With the trade in, I was out the door at $19,250.

So far, 200 miles and no problems. I really like the Bluetooth and the USB radio. The Ipod connection is great, once you learn what some of the "soft buttons" can do,

You are totally right. A lease payment comes it at $320ish, while a buy payment is around $340ish. Well worth the $20 a month to me. I thought about it, and I came to the conclusion to buy it. I'll prolly get it in a few weeks or so. :D Thanks for all of your help and advice guys!!

I just got a Malibu leased through Ally. $267 for a 1LT with a couple upgrades with $1,800 down. I know a lot of people don't like leasing but it seemed like a good fit for me. 1. I'm always the kind of person who wants a new car. 2. The cost was roughly the same for a 2011 with 0 miles than a 2009 with 40,000 in terms of monthly cost and then I didn't have any warranty. 3. As far as I see it, cars are a pretty horrible investment either way. I thought I might as well lease a new one.

I must suck at buying cars! I'm looking at my sale contract and it says:

Total sale price, $33513.76, but then it says the cash price was 27645.00. Ok the amount Financed was 22193.25. Some where in that price I have a credit for "cash for clunkers" But I think most of you did better than me :D

$22.290 msrp, $2,950 dealer discount, $2,550 rebate, $500.00 auto show discount, $1000.00 owner loyalty cash brought it down to $16,3??.

Advertised lease at $139.00 a month with $449.00 due at signing. With all taxes and other legal crap I am paying $169.00 a month for 27 months. Since I did not own a GM vehicle I did not get the owner loyalty cash but, my sister in law has a GM credit card and she gave me 1000 of her points which is the same as $1000.00 which I used instead of the loyalty cash. I searched every dealer (all makes) in town and this was by far the most car for the least amount of money upfront, the smallest payment and the shortest lease term. The only thing that came close was the Kia Soul (aka the hamster car) and they wanted $1999.00 up front for 36 months at $159.00 a month.

Bought this 2010 LTZ on Friday for $20,000 sell price + $40 title fee + 149.50 doc fee. Total was $20,189.50. Interest rate was 3.55% for 60 months. No trade in, GM cash, incentives, or anything else. I don't think that I raped them and I don't think they raped me...fair deal for both parties, so no complaints. Car was $30K less than 12 months ago and has every option available (sunroof, leather, dual power & heated seats, bluetooth, 110v power, tinted windows, etc). 2.4L - 6 spd with 14,230 miles.

Hello all, I just bought my first Malibu. It was a 2011 Malibu LTZ Black Granite Metalic w/ 2.4lt. and Sun Roof. MSRP was 29070,Dealer gave me $3000 OFF plus $2000 GM rebate (just dropped by 500) and $1000 dealer Cash and I had GM money. So I paid 22070 before my GM Card Cash, which they let me use all of 3970, making my total cost $18100 before tax and title. :)

Also it has 10 miles on it and they had to get it from another dealer, which they are putting it on a flatbed to get it here per my request.

Nice deal, Mario Bro. I'm missing the math, however. It sounds like the sticker started at 29, less 6 = 23 minus GM card. But you indicate 29 minus 6 equals 22 minus GM card. Where does the extra $1000 come from?

PS - I take it your Malibu is red and your brother Luigi got a green Malibu? :D

It looks like my math was off. Sticker 29,070, minus 3,000 markdown, 2,000 GM rebate, 1,000 dealer cash, 3,970 GM card money = 19100 is what i paid before tax and title.

Just bought my brand new 2010 Malibu 2LT. It was a leftover model so I got it cheap. Was 27,900ish, got it for 21,000. It's Imperial Blue, with Titatium color interior. Has the sweude(I can't spell) and leather seats. Power driver, heated. Rear power pack, sunroof. The works for the 2LT. I really like it alot gets great gas mileage too out of that four cylinder. Really suprised me how much power it had too. I had drove a four cyl. version of a 2007 Malibu before and it was very lacking I don't know what they did but it sure was a improvement somewhere. Anyways that's what I paid.

hondafanatic17,
Since you got it used and the sales people don't know or don't care, your seats have what is called UltraLux. It has no leather but it's still a nice seat. The center is faux suede because real suede would wear poorly, so that's a plus. The "leather" is high-grade vinyl. On my '09 I had that. It was black outside and in, and I had no issues in the summertime.

DrivenDaily,
Yeah I know its not real leather or real suede lol. It's just nice saying that, I work at the dealership I bought it from and it is new, bought it with about 200 miles on it as it was dealer traded from New York. Had no previous owners. It just never sold on my works car lot, like I said its dark blue, with almost white interior. I think that is why it never sold, very hard to keep clean, know what I mean? I clean the cars here as my job so my two cars are upkept very well so I don't mind it being a light color inside. Makes the car feel bigger. My Saab has real leather in it so I know that the stuff in my 'Bu wasn't a living thing at one time lol. Real leather is dull and very plush feeling and tears very easily. This stuff I could prolly run a table knife against and it wouldn't tear(but I'm not going to try that though). Anyways like I've said I really enjoy my new car so far, and I hope to get a good life span out of it, or at least as much as far as my Saab 203K and counting:)

I'd like to see that interior. It sounds really fantastic! Like you say it just makes the car feel bigger, and because it's a light color, when it's clean it's really clean!

Hey, got a question for ya. This weekend I was laying the seat backs down in the back and noticed what looks like pen ink marks on the seat bottom. What is the best way to remove those marks? I have leather.

The best way I would try to clean it off with is get some Spray 9 or like of it I think there is something called Purple Magic too, its in a big purple bottle. Anyways we use the stuff religously at work. Spray 9 can be found in your Wamart/Target in the Automotive area usually near the oil/wiper blades. It comes in a gallon jug for like 10 bucks. Dillute it 50/50 with water if its concetrated. Take some and put it in a spray bottle and spray it onto the leather with the pen marks and use a firm toothbrush to lightly scrub the marks. Don't scrub too much or you could bleed the color from the leather. And wipe off with a towel. That should prolly take the marks off. It usually does for me. If not get back to me on it and I will think of something else hopefully.:)

Oh and here some picture of my interior since you wanted to see it, you might have already seen it but the color is called Titainum, we get a lot of Malibus in with the dashs and carpet grey but usually not the seats in white. Which is why I think mine is a little different. I haven't scene many with the white seats.

DrivenDaily
06-15-2011, 09:01 PM
I like those seats. The only reason I wouldn't want that dash is due to the reflection of the light color in the sun. But it sure looks nice! Thanks for sharing, and thanks for the tips. I'll see if I can find some time soon to work on those marks.

That's quite a few miles for an '11 while the '11s are still on the lots. Was it a company car for a sales rep, or do you know anything about the former user?

The place where I got the LS has 14 (out of 27) used 2011 Malibu's for sale this morning - all w/>25,000 miles on them. Can't say about 2malibus, but these are ex-rentals.

As a side note on rentals, Check Writer and I rented a Milan from Hertz over Labor Day; a 2010 that started @39,000 and finished @41,000 miles.

I've read enough about this issue that I am NOT going to attempt to get it fixed. I can live with it. Car avg's 20 - 22 MPG when DIC avg speed indicates 30 - 32 mph.

Yes, it is high miles for an '11, and it was a former fleet car. Which I believe is a comapany car rather than rental, right?

It was the only one I could find locally in the gray color that I like best and in the 1LT trim. It is still like new in and out, solid car, and under warranty for 3 years bumper to bumper and 4 years powertrain.

Like I said, I'm not one to be out to get the best deal for braggin rights. If it's the car I like, I feel the price is fair, and I'm TREATED WELL at the dealership, it's a done deal. They did try to lowball me a little on my trade, but I think it was very apparent that I would walk if that wasn't worked out, so that took about 5 minutes. It was a very smooth, fair, and easy transaction for me at the dealership. I am happy overall.

Mike7143

I thought fleet was rental. I know a car I looked at during my searching had some RPO codes:

BQ2 - FLT-AVIS BUDGET CAR RENTAL
FLT - FLEET PROCESSING OPTION
and
VN9 - FLT-DAILY RENTAL REPURCHASE PGR

Car was similar in that it was an '11 but had high miles, but otherwise was in great shape still. If you can handle the miles, fleet cars aren't too bad of a deal. The rental companies have to have proof/copies of all the maintenance that is recommended such as oil, tire rotations, etc., etc., etc. in order to sell it back and get the fleet discount on the next model year when they upgrade. So if you can handle the higher mileage on them, you can be pretty confident that it was serviced regularly and you should be able to find records somewhere I'd guess.

2malibus
11-07-2011, 12:25 PM
Could be a former rental then, I'm not sure?

Ok, remember I'm new here :), where are the RPO codes on the Malibus? I will check that out.

Mike7143
11-07-2011, 01:03 PM
Haha, I'm new to the Bu as well, but most GM vehicles have the codes on a sticker on the inside of the glove box door. 3-digit codes that describe most of the options that the car was built with. There's a lot of websites that'll tell you what the codes mean if you Google RPO decoder.

my friend knew i was going through major car trouble...i had a 2005 Pontiac G6 and it was a money pit..her dad is a GM at a Toyota dealership and when we looked at their used cars they had 3 2010 LT Malibu's to choose from..they had a dark metalic blue,a silver and a gold metalic mist...i wanted one with a sunroof and the only ones that had it was the dark blue and the gold metalic mist...well the dealership gave me $6000 on the trade and the cost of the Malibu that i wanted on the lot was the gold metalic mist which had 43,000 miles on it and was being sold for $14,999. After all was said and done i walked away with the 2010 Gold Metalic Mist LT1 Chevy Malibu with the sunroof and it was paid off(yes my friend bought me and payed off the car right there on the Lot)...after that i got the aftermarket stereo, new speakers and subwoofer, tinted windows and 17 inch Chrome Kenzi Rims on my car and now it's lookin really sweeeeet =)

Does the trade-in count ???:D

It was the spring of 2008...
I had a 2006 convertible Mustang that was stored for the winter.
I traded it for the Malibu.
So...zero dollars balance $$ is the price.

I have two kids and they were starting to get annoyed crawling into the back seat. And I was starting to get annoyed of driving a "beater" in the snow just to have a convertible in the summer.

n.b. guess I cheated...

I bought my 2011 White Tri-coat LTZ with everything except navigation with 28,000 miles for around $23,000 out the door with complete warranty on everything for the next 5 years. Loved the new look ever since they came out and finally sold the tahoe to get one.......but I must say if I had the money I would have gotten me a similar year LaCrosse or CTS

I bought a used 2011 LTZ V6 with every option. 18500 miles out the door tax, title, license for $17,500. I traded in a 1997 Honda Civic which I have owned since new so I didn't get a bunch of trade in as you can imagine. If I can drive this car for 15 years like I did my civic I will be happy.

fully loaded '09 V6 LTZ with 34k at about $15,600. i'm real happy that i chose to buy and not lease, despite everybody recommending i lease.

and i actually drove away without paying a dime, haha. i gotta call from the dealership the next day reminding me to come in and make my down payment.
