: 08 Malibu's On The Road
08MalibuLeaser 04-21-2008, 07:32 AM I was talking to my wife yesterday and asked her if she had seen any "other" 2008 Malibu's on the road - either on the highway or around town and she gave me a big flat-out "no." Now I have only seen 2 other than mine 08 Malibu's on the road - most of the time I see the grill of what looks like an 08 Malibu - but it turns out to be an IMPALA LOL - always make that mistake. Have you guys seen alot of other 08 Malibu's on your travels.
I like this fact - I have a new car that hardly anyone else around here is driving yet - same thing happened in 05 when I got my Pontiac G6 - everyone would say - "what is that??!?!?"
Pizza Man 04-21-2008, 08:20 AM most of the time I see the grill of what looks like an 08 Malibu - but it turns out to be an IMPALA LOL - always make that mistake.
I make the same mistake.
I see plenty of the '08's running around. I live in a 1 square mile town and there are four Malibu owners so far, 2 blacks, one blue and my red. :)
plgtx 04-22-2008, 06:09 AM It's funny that when I see one, I get excited about it. But, they are still rare to see on the roads here (I guess that's a good thing, right????)
USA1fan 04-22-2008, 09:34 AM I've seen a white rental LS, a white LTZ (the one that was on the lot beside my red one), and a gray LT so far.
salgeek 04-22-2008, 09:12 PM A neighbor of mine had one for a couple weeks this past fall. And, there is another one just up the block.
USA1fan 04-26-2008, 05:45 PM Just saw another one today at a local yard sale hot spot. Most of the rural folk around here use a parking lot in town on Saturday mornings, and I drove my family there. It was a dark gray LT four cylinder (single exhaust) with ebony interior and some sharp chome (ChromeTec?) five spoke wheels.
I think this poll needs a fixed time parameter, say perhaps a 1 week period. I see at least one or two each week on my long commute, specifically because I'm am looking for them. From a distance they do have a similar side profile to a few other existing models.
DrD

Believe it or not, I just found a dark grey in town. That now makes 5!
I'll leave the poll open until we feel it has out lived its purpose.
We just returned from a 2 week 4,800 mile motorcycle trip to Texas and I saw a grand total of three. I was surprised we did not see more.
08MalibuLeaser 04-28-2008, 05:32 AM I haven't seen a 1 since I bought mine - go figure!!! Every time I think I see one from the front - it turns out to be an IMPALA - arrrgghhhh!!!
Malibooboo 04-28-2008, 06:26 AM I saw 4-5 yesterday alone! Then again, I was wandering around a Chevy dealership lot.... :)
MiracleMalibu 04-28-2008, 09:30 AM I have had mine for 3 weeks and have taked 2 trips in it and have yet to see another one!

Where do you live, MM? Rural, Urban or Suburban? Honestly, there are five in my 1 square mile town. In fact, there's another just down the street from me.

I live in South Central Virginia about 5 miles from the VA/NC line. When i was ready to buy there was one LT on a lot in NC but none at the local dealership. I traveled to a dealership about 1.5 hours to buy what i wanted. The one at the lot in NC is still sitting there. It is the sister to mine but different interrior.
I purchased a dark grey metallic 1LT with remote start. So far i love everything about it but...it is a pollen magnet! Everynight it turns yellow!
ChevEE 04-29-2008, 09:39 AM Everynight it turns yellow!
That's it's special powers glowing... :D
I just doubled the number i had seen on the road in a matter of 24 hours... I saw two more.

I'm in suburban Philly, way too much pollen here. I tried to convince the wife the pollen was the gold metalflake in the red paint.
No, she didn't buy it! ;) I guess I'll be washing it soon. :(
I still have not seen a single one on the road. I'm cool with it cause that means I stand tall among the lower mortals. As long as when I do see on they don't have my same color...hehe.
08MalibuLeaser 04-29-2008, 10:34 AM Same here - haven't seen a 1 and I live in metropolitan NJ - near NYC and CT and PA etc - I like the fact that I haven't seen that many yet!!!

at least the rain yesterday washed it away for now...

At least you get to wash your car. Due to drought, Charlotte has been under water restrictions since last summer. Almost a year since I could wash my car at home. I'm one of those guys who likes to wash his car... :(
Pizza Man 04-29-2008, 11:36 AM at least the rain yesterday washed it away for now...
Thank God, she's looking almost proper now. Yesterday's rain didn't bead up very well, looks like I need to put on some wax. :o

Sorry ChevEE, water we have enough of. Now it's a matter of time and energy. :o
MiracleMalibu 04-29-2008, 12:13 PM I have well water so as long as it doesn't go dry I will keep it clean!
I waxed mine Friday with Turtle Wax Liquid Ice so mine should bead up for a while!
I love using that because you can apply it in the sun or shade and it doesnt leave white marks on rubber molding.
Pizza Man 04-29-2008, 12:20 PM Turtle Wax....... I love using that because you can apply it in the sun or shade and it doesnt leave white marks on rubber molding.
I use it myself for the same reason.
08MalibuLeaser 05-03-2008, 06:10 AM I still haven't seen one other than mine yet - over 1 month of ownership LOL
jasbre 05-03-2008, 08:48 PM ...it is a pollen magnet! Everynight it turns yellow!
Same here. The only rain lately has only been briefs showers, just enough to put a few streaks in the pollen.
Malibooboo 05-06-2008, 11:44 AM I got all excited when I caught a 2 second glimpse of a Malibu turning off the highway at an intersection. That's how rare they are around here.
I have to come clean about something and I hope all of you can forgive me. Today I was a bad New Bu driver and showed my ugly side. Till now I have not seen any on the road around here and was actually kinda happy cause I like to special in knowing no one else is like me. That's one of the main reasons I purchased my New Bettle. Well today I saw a black Bu on the road and instead of being supportive of my fellow Bu, I shunned him and looked down on him in disgust. I'm ashamed of myself...I promise I'll try harder to be a better Bu driver in the future.
Pizza Man 05-07-2008, 10:22 AM I'm ashamed of myself...I promise I'll try harder to be a better Bu driver in the future.
I'm ashamed of you, too!:D
Malibooboo 05-07-2008, 02:54 PM Passed a blue LS on the way to work this morning. Almost ran off the road at 70 MPH trying to get a good look.
NJMalibuman 05-07-2008, 04:47 PM I saw my first 08 bu on the road yesterday. It was the imperial Blue color. man was it nice, I had to change my pants LOL!
I saw another one awhile back but it was parked at Lowes.
08MalibuLeaser 05-07-2008, 06:17 PM LOL Bass - BU' SHAME on YOU!! We'll forgive you this time! I still am 0-for in trying to locate a single BU' on the road other than mine. Although was cool at work yesterday, a woman who came up to my window (scared the hell out of me) said "Is this the new 08 Malibu??" "I have an 04 Malibu and dammmn this car is fine honey..."
So that made me feel good!@
08MalibuLeaser 05-08-2008, 04:07 PM FINALLY! Saw a Silverstone Metallic Grey 2LT Malibu fly past me in the other direction while heading (late) to work today. If I had been on-time, I would have never seen the car!
jasbre 05-08-2008, 07:56 PM I guess you weren't near Allentown, PA, Leaser? I also saw a beautiful Black Granite LTZ today parked at a restaurant near my work this afternoon.
Malibooboo 05-09-2008, 05:46 AM I was cruising pretty fast to work this morning in the left lane, when a very familiar grill appeared in my rear view mirror. I immediately got over to let a black LTZ blow past me - they must have been in an awful hurry. I'm such a Mailbu nerd, as I knew instantly it was an LTZ because of the fog lights.
08MalibuLeaser 05-09-2008, 06:07 AM We're all MaliNerds...
Malibooboo 05-09-2008, 08:30 AM We're all MaliNerds...
Who else would be posting on a Malibu website? :D
Pizza Man 05-09-2008, 09:07 AM We're all MaliNerds...
I've been called worse! :eek::D
vnamvet 05-09-2008, 05:50 PM I am always looking for 2008 malibus..........seen a couple...........BUT I pass at least 5 Toyota Prius's every day................can't wait until they have to buy batteries....$4,500.
jasbre 05-09-2008, 06:00 PM Gee... I'm really starting to see a lot of Malibus. In addition to the Black LTZ yesterday, I saw a Dark Gray LS and a Sandstone LS on my way into to work this morning, follwed by a Silverstone LS(?) at the restaurant tonight.
USA1fan 05-12-2008, 07:28 AM Haha. I also see a ton of Prius on the road. Had to take my son to the doctor this weekend, and we took the bu. The speed limit is 70 on the interstate on the way there, and I was running right at it. This light brown Prius comes flying up in my rearview, gets over, and passes me like we're sitting still. My wife asked me if I was doing 70- I guess she thought I must've been doing 55 or something by how much faster he was going than we were. I could only laugh and tell her that he's probably getting like 10 mpg going 95 in that little 1.5l(??) engined car. What a waste.
Anyway, seeing few more new Malibus on the road now. Ranging from a sandstone (is that the color name for the bu?), white, black, dark blue, and of course, another red, like my own. I still see far more of the old cars. It seems like folks are snapping up the 97-03 and 04-07 models up right now, because I didn't see nearly as many of those on the road until just the past few months, and maybe at a 4x ratio to what I used to see.
NotmyCar 05-13-2008, 05:32 PM ^ It takes about 10 minutes for those things to get up to that speed. They're gonna keep it at that pace for as long as they can.... The MPG is great on those things but you wouldn't want to get up 20 minutes earlier in the morning just to get to work on time....:D
