I've owned a couple LT1 powered mid 90's Firebirds, an 01 SS Camaro and an 05 GTO.

Just wondering.

I almost bought a GTO but got my Grand Prix instead because of the cost. And now I'll probably be getting a Malibu instead of the G8 because of the cost (and fuel mileage).

My Z gets 30 MPG on the interstate... City numbers could be a little better if I took my foot out of the throttle on ocassion.

I loved the GTO but there was something about that Camaro if I could have one back it'd be that one. When we pay our truck off we're going to be looking at a C5 Vette or 09 Camaro. I'd be happy with either but the Vette is my dream car and an low mileage 02-04 Zo6 is right in the price range we're looking at.

The G8 is a great looking car but when it comes to sedans the big high powered v8's don't turn my crank. My dad has an 06 SS Impala and a friend of mine had an 06 Charger R/T (I have not driven an SRT8 though) and while both are pretty quick to me there just not as much fun as a light weight coupe.

That's incredible. I think the G8 is rated at 21 or 22 MPG highway.

I looked at a Superbee Dodge Charger at the dealer the other day. It's rated as 13/18 MPG and the cost was $47K! That included a $2K gas-guzzler tax and a $2K New JErsey surcharge fee of some kind.

My GTO (6spd) got 22mpg average and would get 28 on the highway and the Camaro (auto) would get 21 average and 26 highway with power to spare. The GM LS engines V8's are IMO the best OHV engines ever built.

I looked at the G8 in March and just couldn't afford the damn payments - plus the milage thing is a bit scary. Very nice looking car IMHO...but payment of over 500/month - no thank you.

I've heard that a lot from taller folks but I looked at a C5 a few years back and it fit my 5'9" frame like a glove. Amazing what a few inches will do.:D

Oh, it fits like a glove once you get down into them. It's getting back out that's the problem. It's like trying to climb back out of a hole in the ground. :)

My dad had a C4 that was like that but the C5 Vettes IMO were much much better. Of course, I'm comming from F-bodies which weren't the easiest cars to get in or out of either.

I had an 87 Trans Am but have mostly had Mustangs ... an 85 GT two 86's a 95 and now have a 07 Mustang GT convertible. That mostly sits in the garage. The Malibu is my first Chevy! Of course I would love to have a Vette... but that’s a little out of my price range!

My husband had a 98 Z28, a 98 Corvette Indy Pace Car, a 2000 Camaro SS, a 2002 Corvette Z06, a 2006 Corvette Z06 and just picked up a 2008 Z06 at the Corvette Museum May 20th. He used to be in Classic and Muscle cars but is very content now with his Z06. The day he picked it up in KY he drove the 530 mile trip home and averaged 25.8 mpg running about 75 mph most of the way which isn't bad for a 505 hp 427.

Never owned an F-body, but I'm proud to say that if any of your Camaros or Firebirds were produced at Norwood Assembly, my dad most likely installed a part in your car, probably the catalytic converter.

Some nice pics. I owned Corvettes, 74,70,66 and a 94. A Silverado SS(04), and three Mercedes, E430, ML, and wife drove a C Sport. Two other Silverados, and way back a few Camaros. I think I ve owned over 25 cars and have lost track of some of them. Would love a new Z06 or 911.

07 Corvette Z06 up on the lift in the garage - Motor City Mold hood (I sell them), Melrose Headers, Random cats, Corsas, Halltech Stage II tune and Air intake, Vette Essentials leather console and shift knob, carbon fiber finish interior, RF rear spoiler. Pushing right at 580hp under the hood, fun mobile! Same color as the nice looking one in this post - Victory red with red side bolsters. 427 Z06 personalized tag. I will always own a Vette, I hope...the people that you meet with them are fantastic! I serve as the NCM Ambassador for the C5/6 Registry, so big supporter of the National Corvette Museum. Worth the trip there to see that and the plant across the street that makes these great machines - Bowling Green, KY, just off I65.

I have 6 tickets for free admission to the NCM. Will give them out in 2's to my Malibu friends - just send me a note that you want them and a self-addressed stamped envelope and they are yours to enjoy the NCM. Drop me a post and I will send you my address.

You won't be disappointed because I've had three Z06's and they are awesome cars. Right now is the time to buy because of the discounts dealers are giving on new and used Z's.

My first was a black 2002. I lowered it and had an extra set of wheels which were powder coated black which made it look like a different car.

http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/gallery/images/435/large/3_P0001432.jpg

My second was a MY 2006 which was vin number 185. The only option on it was the yellow paint. I put over 23,000 miles on it and two sets of tires.

http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/gallery/images/435/large/1_100_0414.jpg

Picked up my Victory Red Z06 at the Museum May 20th. Drove it 530 miles home and averaged 27 mpg. I'm getting better mileage now except when I'm playing.

I have owned a 1969 Mach 1, a 1986 Corvette, a 1997 GPC, a 2006 Mustang GT and now my 2009 Malibu 2LT. Of them all I like the Malibu the best, now that might be a bit of age talking..:)

Ha ha I love my 08' Mali 2LT also! I'm 40 ... also , i did it's first oil change a couple of weeks ago, easiest car i've ever done!

My garage queen is an '01 SS Camaro with 408 stroker, six speed 12 bolt rear, 4.11 gears, factory ported heads with leather, t-tops and A/C.

It dyno'd at 500.xxxrwhp and 470 tq two years ago but right now it needs another new clutch due to my heavy foot.

Here is my '00 Camaro SS. Pretty much just a drag/bracket car now. It usually is on a set of lightweight 16" wheels with skinnies up front and ET Streets out back. Tons of work, heads/cam/intake/long tubes/12-bolt/full suspension/roll cage/etc. Still is full weight, with leather, stereo, A/C, full power etc. This summer I will start to pull weight and add Kirkey racing seats as it will just be a race car and will not see road use once I find another older Corvette (or if I decide to get a '11 Mustang GT) to become my weekend toy. While the Malibu stays my daily driver.

Here is my '99 Corvette I just sold, basically stock. Used as a daily driver, then weekend driver when I was working on the Camaro, had 120K when I sold it. C6 Z06 wheels/tint/intake/exhaust/shifter and a few other things.

I only have a few actual photographs tucked away in a box somewhere, but back in the 90's I had a '92 RS Camaro. 3.1L 5-spd... had it painted a dark purple that looked black until the sun hit it, a few little mods here and there, '96 Z seats. I had pretty much got the body and interior where I wanted it, and had just got a hell of deal on wrecked low mileage '89 IROC for donor drivetrain, when life took a turn, and both cars had to go... :( I always said someday I'd have another 3rd Gen, but I'd start with a Z or IROC... still... maybe someday...

I had a '95 TA. When I traded it in, the salesman asked if I had slicks on the rear. http://serve.mysmiley.net/ashamed/ashamed0003.gif (http://www.mysmiley.net)

Loving all these pics. Always been a Mustang fan myself, though I've never owned one. I was going to "inherit" dad's 07 C6 'vert eventually, but he sold it.

Yeah, a lot of people think their ugly but for their time i think they look great. Only has a 305, with hooker headers, magnaflow cat and cat back it makes a nice cruizer.

i own a 96 firebird 3.8 with tons of mods. ive really enjoyed it but im ready to move on. i say that yet i have yet to call anyone back that has inquired about the car lol. i really am in a financial crunch and do need to get rid of it though. i just want it spick and span first. i would say though that down the road i could definately see myself getting back into an f-body

I had bought a 2004 GTO new in 10/04. I hated the soft paint, short-lived suspension, crappy shifter, soft glass, and so-so brakes. In hindsight, if I knew I'd be getting a new job with a company car I would have kept the car. Most of those things are easy and relatively cheap to fix.

I LOVED the car though. I loved the power, the 6-speed manual, the seats, the stereo (6 cd's in dash), the power, the handling, the limited-slip diff, the power...

Here's the only photo I have of it with the 18" wheels I had put on it:

That old BMW behind it is gone now too, but it was the reason I got out of the GTO and into a newer BMW. It was an amazing car for handling, and both my BMW's just spanked the GTO as soon as we reached the first corner.

If I have my way, a G8 GXP (used, of course) will likely be my next car. It's got most of the GTO's shortcomings fixed, and two more doors.
