My LED light in the drivers door quit working. The overhead and passenger door ones still work though. I dont know what caused this already???
The other issue that I have noticed and is damn anoying is that the speedometer is off center in the dash...its driving me nuts...bummer!

Yes, all warranty issues, except for that off center speedometer bugging you;)

Wondering...how old (i.e. as far as build date/sat on the lot) is your car? Really should have no bearing given how new these cars are in the first place, but curious with the not working lights. Similarly, what plant did it come out of?

Speedo is still a warranty issue ;)

I thought it would be a warranty issue but I have not been to the dealer recently. I was worried/wonding how far they would have to break down my dash to fix such a minor issue. As for build date and plant...I'll have to get back to you. I have not looked, although after reading so many different threads it would probably be a good idea to educate myself on that aspect of my vehicle.

I purchased the vehicle in June 08. The build date is 05/08. Where do you find the build location? Is it on the window sticker? If so I'll have to go and dig it out.

The window sticker said it, you have a sticker on the inside edge of your driver's door and the vin number also tells you via the 11th digit:

Fairfax, Kansas: "F"
Orion, Michigan: "4"

Here was a thread I started that you should post in as well, once you find out...it's been interesting:

You mean the actual placement in the cluster? Hm, I never noticed that, will take a look next time.

You're not leaning on the side a little, are you? I noticed that I tend to do that when I get tired on long drives.

Yes...the speedometer is moved off to the left in the center cluster by about a 1/4 inch. I don't know how much work it will take the dealer to fix that.

I don't think that I am leaning to the side...but I had friend that we always joked with for doing everything at a 45 degree angle...including driving. :D

I stared at mine extensively yesterday, it's perfect. Kinda hard to imagine how they'd screw up like that

Thats what I thought! It is kind of a pain to look at...but I really dont want the dealer to tear down the whole dash to get to the speedo, for fears of future rattling or fit and finish issues. As of right now I have not had any other interior problems other than the speedo and the LED light. I'm going in next week so I'll see what they say.

Well, I went to the dealer and they ordered the part for the LED light (warranty). The speedo was a different issue. I told the dealer that I wanted them to look at it to see how much work it would take to break down the dash. Well...the service manager called me back and told me that the tech looked at it and then compared it to another vehicle and said that it looks fine. I told the service manager that the tech is blind because the service rep and the body shop manager both noticed the alignment issue. He said that they still didn't see a problem so I asked him what it would take to fix it anyways and he said "A hell of a lot." What ever that means...regardless, I am getting the LED fixed and not going to worry about the speedometer...at least from this dealership.

That s bummer, sorry to hear about that. I know how fustrating it can be to deal with idiots at dealerships. I hope you get the problem resolved soon, i know that would bug the hell outta me. I'm thankful i've had zero problems with my 08. :D

Nighthawk....Try taking a close-up picture of your Speed-O, then a picture of one that's right._Do a side-by-side paste-up of the two together.Print it and show it to the Jag-off.....If you can't do the paste-up yourself, post them here and I'll put them together for you.___I'm steamin' on this one!

Nighthawk...Thinking about it, I think your concern that having your dash taken apart to correct the angle of your speedo might do more harm then good, may be valid. Still, if you would like to try the paste-up picture comparison, I'd still be glad to help.

are other instruments off center as well?

BTW, I somehow thought it'd look much worse ...

You know...I am not sure about the other intruments. I have not noticed anything wrong with them, but I have nothing to compare it to. The speedo is not that big of a deal, it is just very annoying as it is something that you look at all of the time. Say for instance the "GM" badge was crooked on the passenger door. (Maybe this is a bad example due to ease of repair.) I would not care as much because I never see it. I see the speedo every single time I am in my car. I do agree with you about if it is really that bad though. As I have said all along I am not sure that this warrants taking the whole dash apart to adjust the alignment issue. I am fearful that fixing this issue would lead to future fit and finish problems with the dash, i.e. pieces not fitting back together how they did at the factory, tool marks from taking the dash apart, and rattles or squeaks in the future. The problem is, I have not been given a good answer about how much work is involved in fixing this issue. Originally I thought that the center stack came out seperate from the dash. A friend told me that he thought it would be more in depth, removing the stearing wheel, the multi switch on the stearing colum, the front part of the dash (where the wood trim is), then the insturment panel. All I was told from the dealer is..."A hell of a lot." I will say that a body shop manager told me he thought it would be very indepth as well. If it was a simple fix however I would do it in a heartbeat.

Maliblu....thanks for the pictures, they look great! I am going to the dealer to pick up some winter floor mats today and I am going to show this to the body shop manager, see if I can at least get a better answer.

Looking at the two together, I swear it seems to me that the speedo isn't off-center. But that the opening/window for it is actually deformed to the left....Does anyone else see it like that?

I kinda thought something like that too - maybe the visor/wells are shifted a little...

Yeah...In this picture the yellow marks at 10 and 40 mph are the same distance in both and you notice things going funky elsewhere. http://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq134/MalContent2/0nght.jpg

^^That is so WEIRD...

All of the parts that come together to make the dash, or largely any part of the interior for that matter, typically fit one way and one way only, snapped here, screwed in here, etc. How you could have something like that out of whack is just randomly bizarre, unless it's just something that has adjustment room, but that definitely shouldn't.

So, something is either deformed or was just assembled with a bit of a slide...

Would it be doable to pull out just the 'well' section(possibly without even removing the steering wheel) and plugging in a new section?

nighthawk-24

Well after looking at the new pictures and the posts I got all excited and ran out to my Bu to check the plastic housing to see if it was deformed. As far as I can tell, the housing is not deformed. It could be an optical illusion but the speedo seems out of place. I tried pushing on the plastic in all directions and id did not seem to move like it was deformed. I have no reference for the well to really tell if it is deformed or not other than the speedo, but it really looks like it is off center. It is possible that the well is deformed on the right side, but it is hard for me to tell without another reference other than the speedo.

is the needle centerered in relation to the dial? I.e. when you drive at different speeds does it look centered at all times? I am thinking maybe the speedo graphics are printed at an offset.
To think about it that'd make the most sense. To mount the cluster with an offset would require more than one thing going wrong, chances are all the parts wouldn't fit together. Making the dial with a shift wouldn't affect anything else, but the needle wouldn't be centered then.

I see what you are saying Yury, but the needle is centered on the dial. I am at a loss...
