i just cleaned up my 09 LT1, and i scrubbed the chrome tailpipe with a brush because it was all black and stuff - when i did, some of the chrome came off, and it looks like crap! should my dealer cover that on warranty? all i used was soap, water, and a brush! wtf?!

I would think so. I've cleaned black residue of our '08s chrome tip for a year now, with the regular washes and it's still in perfect shape.

You used a brush on chrome? What did you expect?
Chrome is nothing more than polished metal.

To clarify in my cleaning case, I've only ever used one of those plastic kitchen "scratchy pads" that's thin, and never had a single issue with the chrome tip--still perfect after 11k of occasional scrubs.
It shouldn't be flaking, even with a brush--unless the brush is metal or some other harsh scratcher/scraper, which is a no-no.
