There was a jeep in the slow lane almost stopped to let 2 cars on the highway. When I was about a truck length away, he decided to move into the passing lane. In order to avoid rear-ending him, I passed on the left, half on the road and half on the shoulder. The rear end got squirrely, and after going back and forth across the highway 5 times, was unable to control it any longer. On two occasions, I had the truck pointed in the right direction, but lost it again. If I would have gone in the woods before the sign the outcome wouldn't have been as good. The trees were much bigger and closer together. If I would have had a winch, methinks I could have pulled myself out.
No injuries except the truck. Got pulled out, changed a flat tire and was able to drive her home.
It gets good now. I just got off the phone with the insurance company. They said, since the truck is 7 years old and there was damage on 3 corners, they will probably total it! That's the kick in the pants I get for keeping a truck well maintained and near mint. Guess I should have just treated it like the disposable POS that they say it is.
