We've had the Malibu since 4/08 and have just crossed the 30,000 mile mark. I'm about to do the 5th oil change and 2nd tire rotation. We've had 0 problems and everything still looks and feels new. GREAT CAR as if you guys didn't know......:D

3K mile oil changes are fine if you use conventional oil, if you switch to Synthetic then I would extend the oil changes to 5/7K miles, and a new filter ;)

Purchased the end of 04/08 and I have 14,700 miles. I have had to fix a broken sun visor mirror "door" and a noisy AC/heat blower fan but other than that it has run just dandy.

It's our Malibu's first birthday today:) We purchased it Feb 1st in 08. I can't check the mileage because my wife has it, but it's somewhere between 9,000 and 10,000 miles.

The miles are piling up fast..... 3 months old and close to 10,000 miles.

So far so good, I guess. Minor tranny lugging with the 6-speed, I have the plastic fender popping out issue from time to time but other than that all is good.

According to DIC, average speed is 45mph and ave mpg is 28, and that's even in a very cold winter this year in Wisconsin. Summer mpg for this ave speed will hit 30 easily.

Are you saying, you have never reset the avg MPG or speed?

Wow some of you guys put a ton of miles on your cars... 30k in less than 1yr? 10k in 3 months?!?

I've had mine less than 3wks and my mileage is at 520.00.

OP: Are you using synthetic oil? That's some pretty lengthy change intervals.

Anyone make the switch to nitrogen in their tires?

Bought used in Sept last year with 1.6K on it. It is now 5.8K with zero issues. Hope mine will at least like yours. This is my first Chevy car so I am kind of little nervous
BTW, just got an email notification from Onstar, reminding me to rotate my tires. I think that is very cool. I forgot to do that for my Toyota Sienna which cost me new tires one year earlier.

Correct.

I like to leave it to maintain a running log since new.

Each fill up is easy to calculate mpg but once the old info is gone, it's gone.

Mine is used as a work vehicle - I'm a field auditor covering a 2 hour driving radius. I usually put on 35k per year.

This should be a good test for this vehicle with alot of combined city/hwy driving.

I have no doubts it will hold up for at least 3 yrs/105k with only regular oil changes/brakes/etc.

Bought 08 LTZ on 7-08. Now have 7,000 miles. I don t use it every day. Only issue was a pulling to the left at highway speeds. (Tire rotation fixed that). Use Synthetic Oil and change it when the DIC say so.

The Tires look fine I'd say 70% life left. We did have to replace one back in september because we picked up a screw in the sidewall.

I'm sorry it's going to be the 6th oil change.

I switched to Mobile one syn at 5000 miles. I've been using the 5000 mile oil change with Mobile one on our 05 Silverado and it's about to cross 100,000 miles.

When I got my car, I was attending college, and working, and it was 60 miles one way from school, to work... so that was 120 miles a day, and yes, they added up fast, in 3 months. Everyone always is "oh my gosh, thats so many miles, you better not put so many on... blah blah blah" and then i say "well, i didnt buy it just to look at it, i bought it to go places!"

I think you would have to re-match the sensors to keep the TMPS reporting pressures from the correct wheels. i.e. for instance front left will become something else but still will be shown as front left if you don't do the matching.

Just did tire rotation today. I reset the TPMS myself. It was easier and faster than I expected. I just followed the procedure in the manual. Here is my experience:
- I decreased the tire pressure for the tire to relearn (vs. increase).
- I just used the horn chirp as a signal to move to the next tire and ignored the flashing light. The tire was relearned very quickly, in about 3-4 seconds after I had decreased the air. Make sure to go to the next tire in the order listed in the manual: front driver -> front passenger -> rear passenger -> rear driver.
- After I had finished the matching process, I aired the tires. Each time I aired a tire, I went back to the DIC to verify its location (as I could see its PSI was actually increased).
The whole process took about 15 minutes or so. BTW, the shop did the rotation wanted to charge me $19 to reset the TPMS! That was more than the cost of rotation ($15)

^^^ bingo. I too discovered how easy it was when I got my winter tires and the independent shop had no idea or particular desire to deal with my TPMS :)

I lifted this off a post from a while back. It's pretty easy.

The TPMS matching process is outlined below:

Set the parking brake.
Turn the ignition switch to ON/RUN with the engine off.
Press and hold the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter's LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, at the same time, for about five seconds to start the TPMS learn mode. The horn sounds twice indicating the TPMS receiver is ready and in learn mode.
Start with the driver side front tire. The driver side front turn signal also comes on to indicate that corner's sensor is ready to be learned.
Remove the valve cap from the tire's valve stem. Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or decreasing the tire's air pressure for about eight seconds. The horn chirp, can take up to 30 seconds to sound. It chirps one time and then all the turn signals flash one time to confirm the sensor identification code has been matched to the tire/wheel position.
The passenger side front turn signal comes on to indicate that corner sensor is ready to be learned. Proceed to the passenger side front tire and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
The passenger side rear turn signal comes on to indicate that corner sensor is ready to be learned. Proceed to the passenger side rear tire and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
The driver side rear turn signal comes on to indicate that corner sensor is ready to be learned. Proceed to the driver side rear tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
After hearing the single horn chirp for the driver side rear tire, two additional horn chirps sound to indicate the tire learning process is done. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF.
If no tires are learned after entering the TPMS learn mode, or if communication with the receiver stops, or if the time limit has expired, turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF and start over beginning with Step 2.

Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure level as indicated on the Tire and Loading Information label.
Put the valve caps back on the valve stems.

5/08 - currently ~22,000 miles. Company car. Two oil changes and tire rotations about 10,000 mile mark according to the computer. No major problems, lots of little ones. The climate control fan is beginning to make a high-pitched whine that is not repeatable every time.

Some of my guys drive 55-60,000 miles a year. But they don't do that in a Malibu.

The Malibu will cross 40,000 miles this week. At 35,000 I took it back to the dealership with some minor issues that were taken care of. We have had no issue with the car and it's still as tight and solid as the day we bought it. We'll probably need tire toward the end of the year.

03 Malibu LS 3100 V6, 61k currently showing. Purchased in February of 2007 with 51,9xx. Yeah...I don't drive far. Can't really afford to, so I don't. Put it this way, I've owned my 04 Cavalier base since new in 2004. [9-18 purchase date] Drove it off the lot with 9.9 miles on it. Currently it's showing just under 17k

Bought mine in January 08 right after the Super Bowl. Had 26 miles on it when I bought it. Has 11000 on it now, June 09.
I ride my motorcycle more than I use the Malibu.

I bought my 2007 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ in May 2007 with 14,500 miles on it. I am now at 84,000 miles with absolutely zero problems. I did replace the battery a few months ago, but other than that we've just done regular oil changes...running synthetic oil.

Here's hoping for another 84k!
