quick question

bought an 09 lt on jan 9. the dealer gave me coupons for free oil changes, but they say every 5000 miles. I have 1200 miles on my car as of now.
oil life says 67 percent.

When shouldi change my oil?

5000 miles?

when oil life says 10 percent or lower?

3 months?



what have you guys done with your malibu?


Any suggestions would help


also,

when i am really rough on my car IE: heavy on the petal. The car stinks like hot plastic and the cat stinks. Is this normal for a new car? Again it i only when i beat on it.

I generally change mine every 5k miles though right now we are at 5k and 60%

my advice on the smell...take it to the dealer and take a ride. tell them to get on it. the exhaust usually stinks at WOT but plastic smell?

My previous Malibu (an 05 V6) I only change the oil when the oil life got to 15%. Did that for four years and never had an issue, plan to continue this with the new one.

On my 08 LTZ i did my first oil change at 500 miles then again at 1500 and again at 3000 at which time I switched over to Synthetic oil, it's your car do what feels right to you ;)
