My wife wanted the Red Jewel, but she prefered the ebony and brick interior.
We both think the red is the sharpest color.

If I remember right the dark grey is lighter than the Imperial Blue, so I would think the dark grey would be easier to keep clean looking.
The Imperial Blue sure looks good though, and sparkles in the sunlight when clean.

Why is the ebony/brick not available in the red Malibu? Very strange. I would think it looks good to me. Certainly more natural than the ebony/brick I saw in a silver Malibu today.

It's true, I had a Dark Grey Accord, and it always looked clean...until you looked hard at it under the light. I'm hoping the Black Graphite won't be as hard as the regular Black to keep clean.

There were not very many 2LT's available in my area so when I found a Golden Pewter online my dealer tried to describe the color. He went ahead and had the car brought to his dealership and when I saw it I bought it. I love the color. I seems to change from a blue to gray depending on how the sunlight hits it.

Dark Gray Metallic with the 2-tone Titanium UltraLux interior, here.

Mom originally wanted Silverstone/Titanium because it was light, bright, and also not as drab appliance or show everything as her Summit White Suburban. Tried to get a few of them on dealer swap, but as this was only early January, they were extremely hard to get and the dealers didn't want to give them up or had just sold them. I showed her more pictures and she then really thought Black Granite was "so sharp" and we expanded that to be in the search. But there really weren't many that matched otherwise or that were available. Same thing with Dark Gray, which was a 3rd choice, as she originally wasn't sure about gray. Also tried for a Silverstone/Ebony one--didn't really like the Ebony interior that much, as it was too dark, but it was still nice with silver--and no response.

Then a Dark Gray/Titanium one they had tried for before but were told was sold came available at a dealer they work with a lot, and that dealer's sales manager really wanted the Black Granite/Brick LTZ our dealer had for himself, and we were offered the swap. I convinced her the Dark Gray/Titanium was probably one of the ritziest looking color combos, and not as light as silver nor as dark and hard to maintain as black...and she was sold.

That's the story. And it has worked out well. She still loves it and wouldn't have chosen anything else, if given the choice again. Much prefers it to her previous white, too, in look and ease of maintenance.

What's really peculiar is over a decade ago, she had a dark gray '89 Chevy Corsica, the long lost former sibling to what became the Malibu today. It was the best and most problem free vehicle she ever owned, so hopefully that continues with this one.

Definitely the dark gray metallic; a beautiful color. It makes the Malibu look a little more aggressive, while not making it look too "Old person"-ish. That and the competition tends to like Golden and Champagne-like colors for their paint jobs.

I'm getting Black Granite 1LT. My first choice was the Red Jewel Tintcoat but that color is only available on a 2LT or LTZ. I also loved the imperial Blue but my last 2 cars were Blue so i wanted to change. My last car was an 07 Imperial Blue HHR. I had an accident 3 weeks ago and it was totaled. So i thought a diffent color than blue this time might be better luck. I know that Black is a pain to keep clean. I had a 1990 Black Mustang LX hatchback, 5.0 liter. Let me tell you, when that car was clean it was drop dead gorgeous.

Imperial Blue Metallic for me. While mine is a 1FL model (company car through GE Fleet Services), I do like it and will keep it nice. It's got no swirl marks of any kind in the paint so far, and it'll stay that way. Hand washes and Pinnacle Souveran wax, no automatic car washes (other than winter in a touchless system.)

I love black cars, but for the work it takes to keep it clean...I said no on the company car. I have a Sapphire Black Metallic BMW, and it's a nightmare to keep the paint nice. My (now extant) 2004 GTO was even worse, because the paint was metallic black and soft as puppy poop.

That color is incredible! I was going to get it on the LS, but two dealers got into a bidding war over my business and one of them offered the 1LT with the power convenience package and 6 speed automatic transition for the same price as the other dealer's LS (18,999 + my 3k off because of the GM Card)! But they didn't have one in that color :( I had a choice btw white and sandstone. I took the sandstone. It's growing on me, but I sure wish they had one in the Golden Pewter Metalic! That color was absolutely beautiful and I never see them on the street :( but that just makes it all the sweeter when I see one :) BTW I'm 29 and I love my Malibu!!!!!

Mine is "Golden Pewter Metallic," 400P.

Stop reading here if your car isn't 400P.

If it helps anyone out (as i learned the hard way), GM seems to refer to this as the confusing "Transition Blue Metallic" in all their documentation.

I'll give them this, they do share the same paint code but for some reason my touch up had a "trim code" that didn't match up. And my parts department couldnt explain why it seemed like a trim code was on the Exterior color touch up bottle, wouldn't confirm it would match (it matches the vin, thats all we can guarantee. huh?), and didnt know what the 78 after 400P on the bottle meant (there is 83B after 400P on my parts sticker)

I've yet to wet sand with it and see how close it is, but the different name coupled with the poorly matched swatch on the side of the bottle coupled with the inherant difficulty getting metallics to match has me worried

Hopefully it all works out when i get to using it.
