My fiance's birthday is coming up on Thursday. We are not going to celebrate it until Friday at her parents. Then Saturday we will probably do our own thing. What she doesn't know that I know that she doesn't know... is that I took off work Friday :D.

The plan is to start out with breakfast Friday morning. Then act as though I'm going into work . Then decorate her parent's house. The banner, the balloons, the whole nine. I'll get the flowers and all that from a flower shop near our house. Then put those in our house with the petals scattered everywhere (yes I'm the romantic type at times ;)).

Saturday we'll probably head out somewhere nice for dinner and then some other stuff after. I typically make things up as I go. It normally works out better that way. Except for when I dropped to one knee. I couldn't convince her to go anywhere else except a Chinese food place. :( But I was afraid I'd lose it. Turned out to be an excellent thing, but that's for another story.

Basically, I have everything planned out except for presents. I have a couple ideas but to me they are blah. She might like them, but I want something stunning. I have some money to spend but not hundreds and hundreds. I have an account with a jewelery store that is still open from when I got her ring (took a year but thank god I got that paid off... talk about a payment). So in that department I can get a rather nice gift. However, I feel like the diamonds and everything aren't necessarily her thing. She flipped out when she saw her ring (17 diamonds and 2 1/4 carats, I would have too), but that was 2 things factoring into one. I'm not sure she's into the shiny stuff.

We've been together for about 5 years now and it's been an excellent 5 years. We have had some fights... oh yeah... but I don't regret them. We've grown closer because of them. Plus now we know what pushes each others buttons. lol.

Any suggestions would be great. I want to do something outside the box. Something I don't think she'd expect me to get her.

I think he's trying to say that you could probably have chosen a better place to ask this -- especially seeing how there's like one lady on this forum haha..

One woman? It's a malibu, not a corvette. Anyone's opinion would help. I'm running short of ideas.

Huh? Since when are we talking about your Malibu? I thought you wanted suggestions from some ladies regarding a gift for your fiance?

I'm confused.......................................... ......

Thanks for the b-day wishes btw haha

My point: You or someone said there is only one female on this forum. I am puzzled to why that is. This is a Malibu site. There are tons of women who drive them. If it were a Corvette or Camaro site I could understand there being less women.

So anyways the thread is a total fail.

Ok, not a woman here, but an idea for a B-day gift.

A watch, you can most likely find something nice at the jewelry store and reasonably priced.

Hope this helps.

Perhaps she'd like a little pampering. How about a day at a spa? Face, hair, massage, etc...

How about jewelry type items, ring, bracelet, necklace?

Jewelry is always a good standby. Personally I don't like flowers..

OK, so the B-day has passed. Inquiring minds want to know: What did the OP get her and did it do the trick?

Perhaps she'd like a little pampering. How about a day at a spa? Face, hair, massage, etc... I looked into it. They were a little expensive. The end of the month is never a good time. I don't get my commission check until the tenth of every month or earlier. And it's bill paying time. The day spa is an excellent idea. I looked into a couple places. I decided I'll save that for our next anniversary.

How about jewelry type items, ring, bracelet, necklace? Ended up going with a white gold and diamond heart necklace. It was on sale at the store and I happened to know the salesman from the park we take our dogs to.

She loved the necklace. She has been wearing it 24/7. It was relatively inexpensive (for jewelry) so I should be able to pay the rest off later this month. You'd be surprised how many necklaces look "cheap" and then turn out to be 1,000+. lol.... So I did that and a huge bouquet of flowers that I had hand chosen. I'll get pics of those and post them up. They were probably the best set of flowers I have ever purchased by far. The consisted of multi colored roses and a ton of other things. Some roses were blue, some purple, bright red, orange and red.... I will have to get a pic, however they are now 4 days old but they still look great. I went to a gardening center. I figured (and was right) that they had a way better and fresh selection.
