Hey all,

Got an 08 Malibu LT in November last year, so about 6 months old. Got a good deal with the showroom car, and been loving it! I have a 7inch Pioneer double-din dvd player along with the on-star module, rear-view camera, and 2 rockford subs and a mono amp. Everything was installed professionally, not by me! lol Now about a week ago, I finished work and got into my car. Put it in reverse and backed up. As soon as I switched it into drive, the engine just shut off. Power was still on, radio was on, lights were on, but the engine just... died! I restarted the car and everything's been working fine since. Fluke? Also, I have noticed that my brakes squeal a tad when I brake lightly at really low speeds (under 10km/h). I guess it's not a big worry? Any input would be awesome!

Thanks a lot!!

It could be that the pads are getting worn down. There is another thread that I posted a more discriptive possibility to the problem. You can check the pads. Anything under 3mm probably needs to be replaced. It's possible to chew through pads that fast. Depends on the driver.

The engine shutting off could have been a fluke. I wouldn't worry about it, but I would mention it to the dealer next time you take it in for service. If it happens again, take it back to the dealer and have warranty take care of it.

it is probably just the caliper pistions squeeking. The olderr cars did it aswell. Nothing serious just annoying
