So today was a nice day to clean the Malibu so i bought a Mother Clay Bar kit , it says to clean the car & dry it then apply the show time detailer that came with the clay bar and rub the clay bar in a back and forth motion , overlapping. I tried this on some road tar on the bottom of the car it didnt seam to work on it , I dunno if it does in the first place , was just wondering if any one has any luck with some other solution I can try to get it off its pretty stubborn to get off , thanks.

Dawn liquid dish soap will take most things off the paint with out hurting it. It will however, remove any wax too.

WD-40 will take off the road tar also, just clean and wax afterwards. I used 2 cans of WD-40 on my Silverado a couple years ago after the country workers put fresh oil on the road but forgot to put the stone down. After a good waxing, the truck never looked better.

Clay bars are great for removing invisible impurities. For road tar, I there are many products available that will soften the tar and allow it to wipe off fairly easily. I agree with FZ1 that you'll want to wax immediately after removing the tar, as whatever product you use to remove the tar will remove the wax as well.

The claybar will work but itll take time especially if its a big amount. Just use a specific tar remover to get it off.

Dawn liquid dish soap is a great all around cleaner. I also agree with 2001FZ1's WD-40 comment. If that doesn't work, carburetor cleaner will work. I know it sounds crazy to use that on your paint but you should be safe if you just leave it on there for a very short time and immediately wash the area with soapy water and then follow that with some wax. The clay bar is a new one to me and sense it sounds like it worked, I'll have to remember that in the future.

Try Acrysol; Nothing better, and great for tar and grease marks in the interior, too.

another suggestion would be from turtle wax "bugs be gone" it helps remove the tar and insects and since its from turtle wax it also gives it a waxed look
