While I was leaving work tonight, (my job requires lots of driving through the day) when I began to pull away from my parking spot, my brakes began to hum it seemed like, my brake pedal began vibrated and it was kinda tough to stop the car while it was doing this. When I looked up, my ABS light came on. I read the manual and it said I may not have ABS anymore. After the initial incident, I cautiously drove home and I don't plan to drive it until I figure out what's going on or if its still drivable with this problem. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know what this problem could be and how much it would cost to be repaired?

What year is your car? If it's an 08 or 09 it's still under warranty and it would be free.

It's still safe to drive your vehicle.. you should just drive with increased caution (your vehicle's computer will not be able to assist you should you begin skidding or have to stop urgently) and take it to your nearest service centre immediately.

Like the previous post says, should it be a recent model-year, it will be a warranty issue.

There is a TSB that reveals a fault with at least the 08 & 09. They left a diode for clamping voltage spikes out of the fan circuit. It really ticks me off because they did the same thing on the 95 & up Olds Aurora. My Aurora had the fix on it, a short jumper harness that adds the diode. This error will likely cause the early demise of electronic components (not electric such as relays). The Malibu has far more electronic and already issues are arising such as burned out transmission control modules and maybe it was the Aurora where it was burning out ABS controls.
You can find this TSB online, but dealer says there is none on mine. I have glance under the hood and can not see where a jumper harness has been added. On the Aurora it was below the fans where the wiring harness was attached to the lower radiator support. It was easily recognizable because it was strapped to the outside of the original harness and simply plugged into a connector of the existing harness.
If anyone finds this on their vehicle, please tell us exactly where it is.
Because of the nature of electronics this issue can kill or damage components causing an early death at an underterminate time. Certainly a good reason for a class action to force Chevy to cover these components for a time long beyond the original warranty.
