Hi All, I'm approaching the 500 mile mark and I would like to change the oil for the first time at 500 miles, I did my best to not stay at a steady MPH for the first 500 miles, I did punch it here and there, did you guys do your first your first change at that mark or wait for the 1000 miles or even waited to the 3000 mile mark?

I waited until my Oil Life Monitor got down to 60 or 65% before scheduling an oil change.. and I drive my car like mad.. I'm a Masshole after all!

I changed ours at 70% on the OLM. From now on Ill change it when it gets to 25-30%.

When I bought mine it was a demo with 6000 miles. I changed oil right away because I didn't know if it had been changed. The dealer said they did but I wanted to make sure. I used 5w-30w like the manual said. But in 3000 miles I am going to go synthetic.

Use the OLM. If GM trusts it and they warranty the drive train for 100k miles, you dont need to worry. 3000k mile oil changes are a HUGE thing of the past and just a quick way to make a buck these days.

Mine is a company car, and under it's maintenance contract it goes in every 4,000 miles whether it needs it or not. I'm at about 3300 miles now, so it'll probably get it's first oil change next week. That's less than a month of driving.

Thanks for all the info! After much research I'll be doing just what Malo did and trust the OLS. Below are some link you may be interested in. Oh by the way GM factory fill is Mobil Clean (Exxon Superflo).

GM factory fill is nothing important. Mobil just happened to get the sponsorship.

Malo took the black engine cover off. I took mine off too but I thought that maybe it kept some of the heat from the hood. Probably dumb thinking on my part as I really like the cover off. Just my 2
