so after being out of the country for 6 months I left the car in my brothers care................big mistake. So I see the the car has a dent in the hood from a Jeep, a busted HID lamp, a tear in the door panel , lipstick/lipgloss on the sunvisor, scratched steering column, chewing gum on the side panel, stained seats............. these are what I have noticed SO FAR...... bare in mind I just came from the airport.........now tomorrow I need to get an estimate on a new door panel as I dont think that is under warranty or is it???

Mis-Use and Abuse would not be covered. I would be making your brother pony up for the bill..

I think I would take it out of his but (Cleaner term used)! Sounds like he does not respect your property. Good luck, sorry to hear this news.

ouch man, thats terrible =/ if you cant trust family to keep your things in good condition then who can you trust? you should make him pay for ALL damages, its really not cool at all

That hurts! Certainly would present him with the bill for the damages.

Yep, I don't know what kind of standing you have with your brother, but that would not fly. No respect whatsoever. Make him fork over the cash, and if that doesn't work, civil suit.

Next time, store the car. Dont EVER, EVER loan a car to a family member for an extended period of time. Just waiting to get destroyed and no respect.

Yeah that's awful and like malibudragon said.. that's a little more than reasonable wear & tear so your brother should be held responsible to restore your vehicle.

hopefully its all just cosmetic damage and no mechanical problems...good luck with that

so far it all is cosmetic damages, and yea... nothing of it is covered... in regards to making him pay.....that is a no go, he has no cash....EVER! so all of this is coming out of my pocket... basically gotta spend a grand on getting the car to the condition I left it in. I guess there go my lowering springs and wheels.....what a shame.....im taking this rather lightly though because I kind of knew this would happen but was hoping he would respect a NEW CAR but I guess it's just absolutely NOTHING he respects.... never lending him my car again........or anything as a matter of fact..... oh yea, and I forgot to mention.......replacement door panel $637CAN.... lovely~~~ without labor of course

Wow talk about save keeping of a brother's property. No use in getting upset he is your brother, chalk it up to a lesson learned and never trust him with your car again.

My GOD, what a heck of a thing to come back to. Sorry to hear that. I know I would be sick and pi**ed. How inconsiderate of your brother. I hope you get it all straightened out.

well you can't expect a deadbeat to be able to chalk up any amount of money. All is coming out of my pocket and never again will I entrust anything to him. Because this cost me my springs and rims and that does piss me off. Worst is when I talked to him about it that douche just denies it and says he didn't do it. And about the lipstick and the stains he says he will clean it when in fact I just spent the day cleaning up HIS car because if I didn't it would just rot away. 6 hours of cleaning!!!! he'll just stain the seats and the liner if he does it himself.

Here comes the saying, Trust no one but yourself.......that is so true in so many ways!

oh yea, and for some reason the steering wheel badge is all morphed and messed.............looks like it was purposely done wit heat.... and the console and dash are all scratched..... man this list is getting bigger and bigger the more I inspect it.... ugh

I wonder if jealousy set in and he deliberatly did these things. Got any pics?

I guess I will take some tomorrow..... was hoping to like not be reminded of it --;;; I dont think I will look for anymore mess-ups of his because it will just depress me more. but basically I got 5 years worth of wear and tear in 4 months? yay!

Not sure what you did to your brother in your childhood, but apparently he had found opportunity to pay you back. Or maybe your trip upset him. Hope you did not go back there to do some thing that hurt him (such as visiting his old high school sweet heart)..

I had loaned my BMW to my dad when his Astro van bit the dust. He had it for about a week & a half before I found him a 2006 F-150 XL (for under $8800 w/ <40K miles!).

During the time he had it in his no-longer nice neighborhood, it got egged by punks sometime during the night. He washed it off the next morning, but the damage to the paint is done. I also found a door ding it never had before. Do I hit dad with a bill?

Nope. He's my dad. For all of his stuff I lost, stole or otherwise destroyed over the years, it's now even.

well the difference is that what was done to your BMW was not done by your dad, exterior wise, egging, paint and dings are things others do however interior wise unless the car was broken into someone needs to be held accountable for the damage.

I am his older brother and out of goodwill I entrusted a 6 month old car to him and all I asked for was for him to take care of it and be carefull, he was aware on how anal I am about maintainece and appearance however he disregarded that.....

My rant is quite reasonable and I gotta let it go somehow, and it's better through ranting online versus ranting in person where arguements can get physical.

However now I guess I cooled down because ranting and arguing will not change the fact that the damage has been done already, all I can do is make sure it never happens again --;;;;

Yefeng are you seriously paying for the repairs? Why? It's totally inexcusable for him to disrespect your property like that. If my brother had done that I'd hand him the bill for total restoration and if he refused to pay it, I'd sue his ass for it.. it doesn't matter if he's your brother or not he was totally out of line doing that and being a business major (and taking law classes).. I can tell you that if you decided to sue him for damages then you would get the money because he was the only one who benefitted from the bailment.

And yeah take pics if you get a chance..

even IF it would come to that case scenerio and he would be charged guilty, I know for a fact that he would not be able to pay as I know his finances so I really have no choice but to let it slide..... he has no money and is a dead beat and I loaned it to him so he could work but was unsucessful.....

Sounds like you need to take matters in your own hands  if it was my brother I would have to teach him how to respect peoples things  deadbeat, ha, I would beat him till he wishes he was dead ;)

hahaha Malo I like your response.. its SO FREAKING CREATIVE...

Yefeng this whole incident makes me angry and I want to punch your brother in the earlobe and then force him to get a loan (with him at gunpoint) to pay your car repairs.... insurance isn't able to help you out?

Sounds like a good night to me! Any footprints in the windows or headliner?

Times like this make me think how lucky I am to be an only child. Good luck!
