ok. this problem is getting to me. we own (wifes car) a 2005 chevy malibu (turns out the car has the rear brake set up of the 06, the parking brake cable attachment is actually riveted onto the brake shoe) that i changed out the rear brake shoes. i bought some brake shoes at auto zone since the oems were worn out but did not turn the drums since they looked in good shape. after the second day they started squeaking but only when coming to a stop under five mph. took the drums off and had them turned but still the same problem. bought some other shoes from checkers and pepboys and still the same noise. im now using shoes i bought at napa but still the same squeak when stopping. its actually loud to the point that i can hear it when she is entering the garage or when you are sitting inside the car. the noise is comming from both sides at the same time. any ideas? could it be the material of the pads. the squeak goes away when you tighten up the shoes tight enough against the drum about half a turn when the wheel is on but after a day or so of driving (i guess when the shoe wears out a little to settle in) the squeaking comes back. just wondering what type of shoes you guys are running without any annoying squeaks. thanks.
