Chrome Tech Wheels?

I have Chrome Tech Alloy Aluminum wheels on my Malibu. Exactly what IS Chrome Tech?

Are they just aluminum wheels with a layer of chrome bonded to them?
What should I use to clean them? Is it safe to use a chrome cleaner or polish? I see that Meguiar's has an "All Wheel" cleaner made for any type of wheels. Should I use that?

Any suggestions?

I believe it's an aluminum wheel clad with chromed plastic.
The ones I have seen on the Equinox LTZ look like a plastic chrome wheel cover glued to the steel or aluminum wheel.

I've seen wheels like you're talking about and they end up looking like crap when the coating starts to wear off.

These don't look or feel like plastic. It looks like the outer side of the wheel has been chrome plated but I could be wrong. That's why I asked about a cleaner. If they are chrome coated plastic I don't want to screw them up before their time.

If they are chrome just use window cleaner. That's all I use on the chrome wheels on my Solstice. They still look like new and I have had the car for over a year.

It appears though by doing a little research that the "chrome tech" wheels are in fact a plastic cover on an aluminum wheel.
