: Used Malibu LT1 Prices
jeff2674 07-25-2009, 10:02 AM Saw an Amber Bronze 2008 Malibu LT1. Dealer is down to $16,225 on the price. Offering $5750 for my 2004 Mazda 6 w/ 68k miles (great condition, needs two tires though).
His malibu has 19k miles, however the bottom of the front spoiler is scratched up. He said he would cover half the cost ($225). I told him that if I was going to get it that I would fix it up the best I can myself. He initially had it at $16630.
What is a fair price on a 2008 Malibu LT1 with 15-25k miles? I've seen them range from $14,900 to 22k. And yes I know I can get a new one for around 20k. Why do dealers even waste their time putting their cars up for sale for that much?

Sounds like a no-brainer. You can get a brand new car with 0 miles on it, for a couple thousand more than a used one with 20k miles. I'd either try to find a private seller that is selling for what it's worth, or get a brand new 2009 or newer Malibu for a couple bucks more.
jeff2674 07-29-2009, 11:19 AM Well I was going to go w/ the amber bronze for $16225, but then I saw this one.. Black wasn't one of my colors but for the price and it being a 2009 I can't pass this up for $14888.00
I put a refundable deposit down and going to see it Saturday (2 hour drive). They said the body is in perfect condition. They had a silver one, but just sold it today. They were 15888, but knocked $1000 off of them both since they were sitting for awhile.
Let me know what you guys think. They said it has bluetooth, which is another plus going with this one as well.

ucantcme 07-29-2009, 01:43 PM Looks nice..I'm sure you can talk them down to ~$14,000 for it.
Good luck - Let us know how it goes!
jeff2674 07-30-2009, 05:09 AM Wow, on a '09? I don't think I could get to $14k. They sold the silver one pretty fast after they marked down the price.
The same dealership (different branch) emailed me because I called them about an Amber Bronze color. They wanted $16795 for it, but could only give me a range of 4k-6k for my trade. I told them no way since I'm 3 hours away. Well, they email me saying they will give $7250 for my trade guaranteed.
It's an '08 LT1 with 7,800 miles. However autocheck reveals its been in a minor accident, however the title is good and from the pictures and their word the car is in excellent shape. So the '09 is about $400 cheaper (assuming I get $5750 for my trade with the Black Malibu). So it's a toss up. I prefer the Amber Bronze color, and it's 14,000 miles less, but it's an '08 and no blue tooth. Plus the accident has me a little worried.
What do you think?
By the way I'm going to add my 10" sub with my Amp. I have new Kenwood speakers 5x7 but I don't think they'll fit. Can you tell me what size speakers you put in, and where you got the schematics for your radio? I want to keep the factory stereo in it.

"Minor" is subjective. I would pass on the '08. No way it's worth that much, especially since it's been in an accident. Go with the '09.
jeff2674 07-30-2009, 04:43 PM I asked the one dealer if it had Bluetooth and onstar. He said it doesn't have onstar but it does have Bluetooth. Is that possible? Only malibus that have the same antennae on the back windshield have onstar right?

I think the antenna you're talking about is for the XM Radio..

That black thing right above the rear window?
engineer25 07-30-2009, 07:24 PM I think he means that the free, one year service is over/non-transferable. All Malibus should be OnStar capable. You may just need to purchase the service yourself.

Well he asked:

Must not have understood what he meant. Sorry about that.
jeff2674 07-31-2009, 04:23 AM Sorry, I was meaing the black thing above the back window. I didn't know it was for XM radio. The black malibu and others I have test drove don't have the onstar system on the rear-view mirror. It's just a regular mirror. The dealer called last night and I told him to actually start the car and push the bluetooth button on the steering wheel. He just though since it had the button, the car would have it.
What I don't understand is I though onstar equipment was standard on the car (ie. the console for it is on the rear view mirror).
Any reason why it wouldn't be there?

The Malibu you're looking at could have been a fleet car, or just a special Malibu ordered w/o the OnStar feature.
bballr4567 07-31-2009, 03:49 PM 1FL Malibu's do not come with Onstar.
Look at the RPO codes in the glovebox and see if 1FL is there.
