Since the first day I've had my Malibu, the seats in the front squeak and shift around slightly. It's not a major amount of movement, but they're power seats...is this motor play? Bent brackets? I can't seem to find anything 'wrong,' but that friggin squeak is annoying! Been thinking about hitting them with white lithium grease, but I haven't been able to find where it's actually squeaking from, I just know it's the seat. One thing I was sure to check was the bolts holding the seat to the floor, but they're all tight. Anyone have experiance with this? Suggestions?

slide, my 08 started to develop a squeak in the drivers seat. It sounded like a non metal to metal squeak and became worse over time to the point that i broke down and took the seat apart. I removed the side plastic panel enough to expose the frame and ran the power motor up and down, front to back to locate the squeak. It seemed to come from the plastic clips that was holding the upholstery to the frame, so i applied some WD40 to the clips and the put the assembly back together. on my seat this stopped the squeak. Yours may have this same problem, but with a older seat assembly, it could also be the metal to metal frame joints producing the annoying squeak. It was well worth taking apart to lube the seat. Time spent around 15min.
Hope this helps you out.

I agree wholeheartedly. Little noises drive me insane on long trips, so a squeak any time I move in my seat...oh yes is going to rattle my nerves until I flip out, lol. When I looked under the seat and just gently pushed back on it, the seat moved and nothing else did. I'm wondering if the "small accident" the car had been in before loosened / stretched metal somewhere in the seat.

Think about the seat frame, or I should say the seat springs, these are metal and connected together and as a car ages they tend to get rusty. I'd bet its gonna be from those over anything else. What can you do, well you could have the seat redone, but that means taking it to an upholstery shop for them to strip the seat down to the frame then clean up things and replace anything needed to make the seat like new.
