I have been having second thoughts ever since i bought my 09 malibu Ls
i like the car but everytime i see a honda accord or a ford fusion or a mazda 6or some other car in its rank i have a feeling like i made the wrong choice ive been researching my car on the internet to make myself feel better but i cant help feeling i got ripped off i bought the car for about $16500 and 18600 with taxes and everything in holland, michigan i used cash for clunker got 4500 and 2000 in coupons and stuff msrp 22300 did i get a good deal becuase i saw that a 2010 only costed msrp 22800 a little more i just need some closure tell me what deal i got honestly. The sons owner said i wore down his best salesmen and that even though he was still making money it was still a thin deal i dont beleive him i bought it a week before cash for clunkers ended and it had 200 miles on it still bought it as brand new though tell me if you bought the same car for a better price and is buying the car like all sales are final

Well, $4,500 + 2,000= $6,500 and $22,300 - $6,500= $15,800

Only you can say if you got a good deal. If you feel like the car is worth $18,600 then you got a good deal.

2009 LS w/ $4,500 Cash for Clunkers and $2000 in rebates?? That's $6,500 off the MSRP and the MSRP was $22,300 - $6,500 and you have $15,800. They charged you $2,100 for taxes? That's insane. I got my 2009 Malibu 1LT out the door for $19,600 with a sticker right above $23,500 w/ no trade-in. I also live in Michigan, taxes were not that high on my vehicle when I bought it.

$17,500 - $17,750 for your car would be reasonable with all the rebates and the trade-in.

Hi there!
I think you got a nice deal.
Look it up this way, know your car is ready to be customized the way you want it!
and no mid size car looks better than a Malibu, this car was made for a GM's comeback, it is a beautiful, elegant, classy and sporty looking vehicle, ready for your personal touch. ;)

Will you please give us a break down of your taxes the best you can,
I paid about $2000 also but im in Illinois, they make it hard to add it all up.
Mine was 2LT , $17,100 with GM card, 19,100 out the door with Evil TAX:confused:

ChuyJoel- I think you got a decent deal,
We all have buyers remorse, it's human nature.

I got an LS - sticker 22,600 for 16,000 with 3,500 cash for clunkers, 2,000 dealer rebate, dealer covered Tax & Title. It may not have been a steal but my 98 deville with nearly 100,000 miles was only worth 2,200 (bluebook) and it really was a clunker, truely only worth about 600.

you may not have gotten the best deal ever, but someone will always tell you about how great the deal they got was. I would just take comfort in knowing that you have a new car with a decent warranty. The 0% interest is nice too. Enjoy driving it and forget comparing it to anything else.

Cash for clunkers had a strange effect on prices. Because the program was so successful, inventories got hammered down. So dealers who may have given a $2,000 or $3,000 discount last spring decided to give no discount or little discount. Why would they discount a car if there are more buyers than inventory?

My point - comparing transaction prices is apples to oranges if you bought during C4C ("cash for clunkers"). Just be happy that you bought a great car! I love my 'Bu!

Well it all depends on how you negotiate if you went into the dealer to buy the car and started the negotiations without telling them you had any trade in cash 4 clunkers or any other deals or what not...

If you had the right info "invoice price" dealer quotes and other negotiation tools you start with that, and get the car down to a price that you think is best off MSRP and then once you have them to that price then you start talking about C4C and or trade in and rebates. Thats how you get the best deals.

You really want to feel like you got screwed? Wait till the day you want to trade your Malibu in and a dealer remembers that during this time they did the stupid CFC, you'll lose your value on a trade. As well as all the taxpayers who will be complaining in the next couple of years or even more to cover the cost of this program. It's already made some dealers bitter over the program since they've not received the money promised for the program. Wonder why?

The CFC should never have been done in the first place, but the taxpayers will be paying for it for years to come.
