I am not sure what I should use to remove the carbon residue from the tail pipe to return it to its original shine.

Thanks Maude

I just recently cleaned my tailpipe with Turtle Wax Chrome Polish. Works great and is only about $5 for a bottle. Chrome tailpipe looks great again.

I use Mothers Chrome Polish... Cleans off the carbon real well. I also use it on my Ram since it has alot of chrome and the CTD soot tends to accumulate quickly on my bumper and brake dust on the front wheels.

if it's really bad you can use some mothers mag&alum polish with some #0000 steel wool. just follow up with some mothers metal polish on a cloth rag afterwords.

I have the LT2 which comes with a Chrome Exhaust Tip as an extra for this model. Within a month already, it's dull. I have the Turtle Wax Chrome polish. I will give that a try.

By the way, it would have been nice if the Malibu had dual exhaust pipes for the 4 cylinder. Good for horsepower as well as looks. My brother has a 4 cylinder Altima and it came with Dual Exhausts.

A true dual exhaust is good for horsepower. 99.9% of cars today just have a muffler with two outlets. Like the V6 Malibu and Altima's. So yes it looks better, but your not missing any ponies. ;)
