First of all I would like to say thank you for looking at this.

now for the problem I own a 2006 (yeah I realize this is 2008 and up site but I'm hoping someone can help me) Chevy malibu with 60K.

tonight out of the blue the car dinged three times and the abs light, traction control off light, and the brake light came on. nothing seemed wrong but It worried me a little so any help would be appreciated.

edit: spelling

Take it to autozone and have the codes read. Without the codes we're just guessing what may be wrong.

Its a wheel hub sensor crapping out. The OEM unit has the ABS sensor located INSIDE the wheel bearing and when you turn the wheel at full lock it pulls on the wiring. Eventually they crack and will cause the ABS to malfunction so the car turns it off and you get the 3 lights coming on. When those lights come on its almost ALWAYS a faulty wheel speed sensor.

Autozone cant read the BCM where the brake codes are thrown. It can read the engine codes but not others.

Yea, the scanners are way more expensive. Usually a GOOD brake shop will have a scanner but sometimes they wont because of the cost.

thanks that is exactly what I was looking for. Kinda what I was thinking. Too bad it is internal.

As for the code reader my school has a Genisys so I will find out what it is when it starts on Monday

Also thanks everyone for the input.

Thats cool your school has one. That way you will be able to tell exactly which wheel has the problem.

Also, if you dont want a repeat with the wires just extend them 2" when you get the new wheel bearing.
