I am looking at a low mileage 2005 Malibu that is a sale from an estate. It is a private seller and I think that the car was his mother's and she was the second owner.
Is the 2005 model a decent comfortable and reliable car?
Does anyone have an unlimited carfax account and would be willing to run the following vin? VIN: 1G1ZT52805F226843
Thanks
I think that overall those are decent cars. Not perfect, but good enough, especially considering the low prices.
Steering clunk is a common issue. GM have been putting in a redesigned steering rack, but I can't say if this is a permanent fix. I don't think it's a safety issue, but please don't take my word and read up on it yourself. (been some time since I owned that car, I might not remember everything)
3.5 pushrod is not a bad engine (if that's what you're getting). It has some power to it and the mileage is still decent.
The car is comfortable and spacious. The trunk is large and well shaped (something I can't say about the current body).
The electric steering has an unnatural and numb feel. But it is perfectly drivable once you get used to it. Suspension is soft and handle bumps well, but has quite a bit of a lean in corners.
So, if you're looking for a budget transportation this is a good choice.
