The trunk opening is smallish, so if you have a stroller you may find it a challenge.

The rear doors have child safety latches, but most cars in this price range do. There is no rear seat armrest so your girls won't be able to store their crayons and Barbies in there, but that could be a blessing, especially on summer days!

Malibu is top-rated in crash safety.

The ride is stiff but supple enough that it should be very comfortable.

I took a friend and his family on a long trip shortly after I got mine and kept asking for feedback from everyone about comfort, noise, etc. Even at 70 with the sunroof open it was pleasant for all. The adult and child in the rear seats weren't being buffeted by the wind, and the additional noise was easily dealt with.

Entry and exit from the rear seats was easy for them. I'm 5' 6" and find getting in and out of the driver's seat a bit of a trick, but now that I'm used to it I have a pattern to keep from bumping my head. (At first I used to bump it several times a week. Ouch!)

Overall I and my passengers have all said that it's a comfortable ride. Others will tell you in more detail how it rates for them.

Once you get it you'll love zipping around corners and just driving overall. The I4 is plenty powerful and gets great mileage, but the V6 is much more powerful and gets almost the same mileage. The I4 is rated 33 hwy and I can get 32 with the AC on driving at 65. That leaves me with plenty of power left over if/when I need it, and more driving excitement. (Borrowing a Pontiac phrase.)

Depending on your need/desire/love of creature comforts such as heated seats, heated mirrors, and power seats, you'll want to choose your trim level accordingly. I have the 2LT and wish only that I had heated mirrors. The rest of the add-ons for the LTZ trim would be welcome but the mirrors are my only regret. I also have Bluetooth hands-free when I start the car. I let my one-year free subscription to OnStar expire in favor of a Garmin GPS. All I had to do was tell the dealership that the BT wouldn't pair with my phone anymore and they reflashed it under warranty. Now my BT works as perfectly as it did before, and no OnStar!

If you're thinking of getting the 6-speed automatic because of the paddle shifters you'll be disappointed. Get it because it has a lower first gear for launching, whether you're "racing" or just have everyone on board and want to leave the traffic light the same year. The paddles are slow to respond but can be put to good use once you see how they work and how you drive. I'm glad to have the A6 instead of the A4, even though the A4 has been refined a little longer than the A6. Mine works perfectly and shifts smoothly. I'd love it if they put a "Normal/Sport" switch in it, though. (Hey GM! Here's another way to Wow us! Hint hint.)

Happy shopping! And test drive the wheels off it before you buy it.

I think it would work, the interior is plenty big and the trunk is big too. Only downfall might be the smallish trunk opening.

Very good summary Driven... I have to reiterate that the trunk opening has been my only disappointment/oversight. Love this car as my daily driver. Great mix of Sport, Comfort and luxury. It by far is much quieter than the Accord, Mazda 6, and Altimas I test drove before we made our Bu purchase. I have two Boys 5 & 7, they are still in boosters, but car seats should fit as well as any midsized sedan. My suggestion would be to go to the dealer with your car seats and any other devices (i.e. Stroller) and see how everything fits before you jump in feet first. We have been very pleased with our purchase.

Well from my experience, its kinda small. I had put 2 car seats in the back a few times, i had no elbow room, lucky i weigh 145

Yep, the trunk is a pain. I could not fit our 'big' stroller in...A smaller stroller would fit, but if you want 2 of those in you will probably have no space left (if you manage to fit both in the trunk).
Note that a 2002 Sentra would take the big stroller in easily.

I would advise doing an experiment. Take both seats and strollers with you to a dealership and try to fit all of it and see how it goes. Take time and cut no corners, i.e. install the seats properly an so on.

I think when you fit 2 seats in there will be little room left at the back seat. Not enough to seat an adult, that's for sure. But that would be the case for most cars, in order to have that you pretty much have to go with mid-size SUV or a minivan. Cars just don't have enough hip and shoulder room for that....(except, maybe a Crown Vic :)...maybe, don't know really :))
