I recently bought a 05 malibu maxx LT. The remote start and manual gear selector buttons werent working. The manual shifter code will cause the remote start not to work so I fixed that(wire under console had to be re connected) but still nothing. I read a few threads on the internet that said the hood latch sensor has a tendency to go bad so I checked it and sure enough it was bad. There are 3 wires (purple, pink/black and black) I jumped the purple and black wire to show the bcm that the hood is closed and whala the remote start works perfectly. Hope this helps anyone who is having a problem with there remote start that isnt working.
