I agree, the hubcaps gotta go. But don't buy anything from Chevy, it will cost way too much. Check eBay if you want factory wheels, or our classifieds. Or just go aftermarket.

How much is a good set of aftermarket wheels?

There is a big range. What size? Do you want performance tires or touring? Do you want wider tires? Etc, etc.

I have 20's, and it cost me out the door about $1600 with everything.

Since when do Malibus come with hubcaps???

Always have. All LS and some LT's have them. Uplevel LT and LTZ's have wheels.

Really? Hmmm. So my 18" Chrometecs may be covers? Doesn't seem that way. This may sound stupid, but I can't see where mine are covers. Look like rims to me..the spoke size and pattern is much different from LS models. I actually need a replacement for one on my '09 1LT. it got scraped against a curb because of a soccer mom oblivious to other cars in her vicinity in a snowstorm. Can only find 17's in the same pattern.

Chrometechs are covers. Very good ones, but still covers.

Ok, so that explains why I am having so much trouble finding a replacement...any idea what a new one costs?? At least they look good.

BTW, Silver LTZ, you seem to be incredibly knowledgeable. Are you a tech, or just a big fan. Either way its cool, because we are all in this to learn more about a great car and help each other out. Thanks for all your input.

Not a tech, just a big car guy. I tend to gain alot of knowledge for the cars I own/have owned over the years. I also do all the work on my other car, from changing the heads/cam, installing headers, some of the tuning, etc. Plus I owned a G6 GTP before the Malibu which is basically the same car.

The 18" ones are from the G6 GXP's. Also used on the new Malibus since Pontiac is no more.

Yeah, when I ought my '09 1LT last August the package included the 18" Chrometecs, that was a big selling point. 18's are unheard of in this class of car. I get plenty of compliments.

By the way fellow car people...saw my first limited edition Camaro today with the lime green paint...very sharp. Looks good on that car.

Hey I think I found what I want.....but I still have questions. These are the specs of the new wheels:
Part # HOL6633CCCCCC
18 x 7

41 mm offset

5 bolt holes

Bolt spacing: 110.

Found here:http://www.detroitwheelandtire.com/products/search/25063/

Looks EXACTLY like the wheel I need, but will it fit my 'Bu?? Also, if it doesn't come with the TPMS system, how do I get around that?? Please help.

No way around TPMS, when you go and get it mounted have them remove and reuse the sensor off of the bad wheel and re-install on the new one. Fitment on the other hand, I don't know. Google G6 wheel sizes and compare it to the Malibu's.

That will fit no problem. The G6 is the same platform as the new Malibu. As for the sensors, just have your old one pulled out and put on the new one. Then they can reset it. Or a new one is less then $50. $250 is ALOT if you ask me for that wheel though. Hell, one of my 20's was about that....

Yeah, I was hoping to find them cheaper, but NO ONE has them. Saw a single on EBay but it had worse damage than mine for $90. I would have been better off buying a complete set of LTZ wheels off this site recently, but the damage to the wheel happened after the sets I saw here were sold. As for the TPMS, the place that has the wheels has sensors for $25 which isn't all that unreasonable since Tire Rack wants $40.
Thanks for all the input at least I know they will fit. Appreciate all the help. You guys are great.

I'd keep looking for a while, $250 is crazy for what is basically a steel wheel with a chrome hubcap. I've seen mint LTZ wheels on eBay for $129.

I would keep watching Ebay and the classifieds here. I have seen those wheels on there alot. You can certainly find them cheaper than that. I just bought a mint set of the 18" LTZ wheels, no tires, but they are perfect and only paid $300 for all four wheels! Take your time and you will find what you need and probably save a good bit of cash.

I went aftermarket and having my factory TMPS switched to my aftermarket wheels. The going to sell my stock 17s and tires. Should have about 500 in aftermarket wheels after i sell my stock ones.

I am going to do just that. I had this damaged wheel AFTER I saw a good set of LTZ wheels on this forum for a really good price. That way I will keep the originals for winter and put some winter tires on them. I need to make sure I don't use the LS1 factory tires next winter. They are part of the reason I havve a damaged wheel in the first place.

Chrometechs are covers. Very good ones, but still covers.

I bought my LT1 off the lot. It came with the "Sun and Fun" package, which included 18" Chrometech wheels and a sunroof.

I really like the look of these wheels a lot. I've even gotten compliments on them. I've had "real" aluminum wheels on other cars, and I honestly can't tell the difference (hope they hold up as well though).

Gotta admit I really like the LTZ wheels too (just not enough to spend extra $ to replace what I have).

Chrometec wheels used on some GM vehicles are a little different than hub cabs. Chromtecs have the plastic covers bonded to the wheel. You can not remove the cover from the wheel.

GM "ChromeTec" tech is pretty impressive -- Not sure of the GM age/branding but I know I was impressed around 2003 when I helped my grandfather with brakes on his 1996 century for the first time. I had seen that car for years and even knocked the wheels and was FLOORED that they were not metal. This incarnation even banged and dinged with a knuckle just like pressed and formed sheet metal does.

Yes, I too was completely fooled b the look of these wheels, not a bad job by GM. Mine came with the Sun & Wheel package too. Turns out the 6 spd. was part of that deal for some reason....what does a 6 spd. tranny have to do with your wheel size and sunroof anyway?

I saw your signature. I think our cars are twins - I got the Silver Metallic too. What spoiler did you get? Have a picture of it?

I have the lip spoiler for the trunk...looks good, but I thought it would be a bit bigger. I saw a car in my dealer's website and thought it was the same one. It turned out that it was an aftermarket one that looks better. I know I paid too much, but I'm not gonna complain, I should have done a little more homework. At least I got it at cost. No biggie, at least I can pick it out from a line, as my goal was to make my car a little more distinctive. No pics yet....but they have the spoiler on the GM website. It goes right on the back of the trunk sticks up about 2 inches.

I am happier with the WeatherTech in-channel ventvisors... they really look slick and only took minutes to put on. The catch there is that if you want this brand, you have to order the fronts for a Malibu and the rears from a Saturn Aura...fit like a glove, work like a charm.

Will work on the pics..having trouble getting them on the site.
