I just purchased the car a month ago don't know if its defective or previous owners fault, but the chrome in the sunlight looks like it has alot of small scratches to be an 08 model.

You sure they are scratches? The chrome isn't really chrome, it is more of a fake stainless. Which does have some small lines in it. If you think it is more then that, try bringing it in.

Does it have some dots and lines but is more shiny IN the dots and lines?

This is surprising, and actually whoever reads this may want to check theirs out, but my license plate trim (The grill bezel, all of this seems to be the same material) had an "issue" like this where is appeared scratched. I took a spotlight and looked and it turned out that it was completely covered in a dense shrink wrap material that itself was getting worn out. I took some polish(I think i used polish, I cant recall the material. I made an educated guess and used the product that made sense and it worked) and alot of elbow grease and was able to remove it down to the silver shininess of all the other parts of the car that have this material.

If this is way off base, I might start a new thread but let us know if this is maybe what your experiencing. Either way I'd like to know if anyone else notices this on the license plate bezels or other pieces of this material. I have a '09 Fairfax

Yes, My car is an 08 so it shouldn't have alot of scratches within the chrome window trim I would think. It has a bunch of small half an inch to an inch scratches on the chrome trim around the windows. The license plate bezel and front grill do not have any scratches!

Hi Mast, I was looking for some help with mine also, don't know if it will come off with any type of product such as wax or not. I was going to ask the dealer about it before my warrranty is up:)
