Well, I posted numbers a while back after I got my MH, and here is some more updates:
I have hand caculated, monitored the DIC, and an Independent device "ScanGauge II" to make sure I was a accurate as possible.
On one Tank (2 weeks ago)
60% City 40% HWY (Bumper to Bumper)
MPG AVG: 33.7 DIC, 33.5 ScanGauge II, and I caculated 33

On one Tank (1 week ago)
50% City 50% HWY (Bumper to Bumper)
MPG AVG: 34.7 DIC, 33.8 ScanGauge II, and I caculated 34

I have driven somewhat light footed, but I get frustrated too quickly.
I also drove on a flat HWY road trip @ 60 MPH, and all my devices read around 42.5.

I think I got a good deal on my MH, I have a friend who payed 31k+ for a Toyota Camry Hybrid, and he is getting 35 MPG.
I payed 22k+ for my MH, and get around 32-33 MPG.

Despite the bad reviews and negatvity the MH is a good IN-expensive hybrid.

In the 2009 MH the MPG will be 27/35 compared to 2008 24/32

Good post. I never buy the press' criticism of the mild hybrids. GM cars typically already do well on all-highway driving, thanks to relatively tall overdrive gears and good torquey engines. This is usually evident by equal-to-higher highway numbers compared to other brands of vehicles in the same classes. But the city driving (stop and go, idling at lights, etc.) is where they get hurt. The mild hybrid addresses this directly by killing the engine at stops, and if I'm not mistaken, doesn't it also provide electric 'assist' during slow speed takeoffs? This reduces the hit on city driving (as yours shows well).

As a bonus, GM cars have always been the easiest I've owned to break the EPA numbers with, even before the new 'standards' that reduced the label.

Nice 40+ results, btw. :)

Damn, 42.5 MPG? That's great, better than what some people get in a prius. Was it on cruise control or something?

Check yours out next time you are on level ground doing 60. If you have the 6 spd auto, it should be just as good as there is no help with the Hybrid in hwy driving, unless I am missing something. Its too bad we can not drive down a slight hill at all times and get that 99 mpg figure!

MBE,

For what it's worth, the "assist" gauge indicates some level of assistance, even cruising on the highway. I'm looking forward to moving from Indiana to Florida, so I can observe mileage at 100% highway miles.

:):) Hi all I just got back from South Carolina and we checked our MPG we were driving at 60 MPH and I got 39.6 MPG the epa really under rated the MPG on this car. I feel that it is running up there on highway MPG of the Toyota Camry Hybrid. And it is not a 2 Mode hybrid. Well I just wanted to share. Have a great day.

Sweet MPG. I know my V6 LTZ gets around 26 MPG just driving around, and I thought that was decent for a 6.

Those Hybrid numbers remind me of the days with my '07 Malibu 2.2L rental and it's effortless 37mpg at 70+ on the highway. After 7k, I don't know what our '08 2.4L has been getting in the same situations, but it seems a little thirstier overall.

Hmm...my Hybrid 'Bu interest is up again...;)

It's not 2 mode, but I think the cutting off at stops and light assist while driving do help nicely, for sure.

My '07 Malibu's mileage is dropping like a rock.

28.2 MPG now.

Hi,

Just reporting on 2 weeks old Malibu Hybrid.

No issues, all good.

Mileage, City only = 25.11 mpg. Pretty good, considering my average speed was only 17 mph.

Oh, Los Angeles traffic is wonderful... not... :)

I'm getting 32+mpg with the 6speed 2.4 engine. That's mixed city and driving afte 4000 miles.

On a steady 60 mph flat cruize, the DIC reads 36mpg.

Not sure if the extra cost for the Hybrid is justified when mpgs are within 5-7 mpg.

I think it would take many years to recoup the cost of the hybrid especially if gas prices remain low. $2.25/gallon here today.

That and at 2.19 (here) gas is much more standable. Not to mention hybrids are just un-American(-Canadian). If it does not suck down gas like a partying teenager does his hard liquor, what is it? I dare not say Honda (aka that one skinny kid that thought the could take six beers and threw them all up after two).

Im back guys, its been a while since I posted....
My Avg MPG at 12,000 Miles is 33.9...
I drive from LA to Orange County about 24 miles one way, I got moved to OC by my company.
I bought my Hybrid for 22,790 minus the 1300 rebate its going to be about 21,500.
I feel its worth the money at 22,790....but I have seen some dealers selling them for 25k+, thats too much IMO.
