Several months ago I noticed some stains on my garage floor. Turns out that there was a fluid leak where the vertical black tranny pan meets the housing which is towards the left side of the car.
Took it to the dealer and they said that the bolts were a little loose and tightened them.
About a month later, got under and there was some seepage again. Took it back. They said the gasket was torn and ordered a new one. No complaint at all since they put me in a 2010 Caddy SRX. Wow, I wanted to keep it but that's another story.
Well, I got under the car again today and there again is some slight seepage. It collects right near the bottom bolt on the vertical pan.
Any ideas? I'm not really complaining about the dealer. They appear to be top notch, but what else could be wrong?
Anyone else have this problem? It is the six speed mated to the 4 cyl.

Mine's a 2008 with the 3.6L and the dealer did a "Torque Converter Fluid Seal Replacement" because the bottom of my transmission was wet with the pink fluid. It was never enough to drip on the floor, just the seal and the lowest point on the transmission was wet.
Before I took it to the dealer, I would every now and then I top off the trans fluid.
When the Goodwrench people lifted the car and saw the transmission, they wouldn't even let me leave the dealership with the car because they said this was a serious problem. I let them work on it because it was still under the bumper to bumper warranty (the seal is covered under the power train warranty too). They kept the car over the weekend.
The description on the invoice read: "Found that torque converter seal was leaking trans fluid. Replaced seal due to worn rubber on part aligned front end set toe."
They gave me a Chevy Cobalt as a rental from Enterprise, what a crappy car that was, the front end was clunking like no other. Dealership said they would pay for the rental, but I ended up paying the fee for being under 25 years of age. I talked to the dealership and they said too bad, grow up.
If Chevy wants younger buyers, they shouldn't make youngsters pay an additional fee for courtesy transportation. Sheesh.
The transmission was smoother after they fixed the seal (felt like they did the transmission update to smooth out the shifting), but a couple thousand miles afterwords, the transmission still shifts horribly in stop and go traffic (just like other owners have complained). I think the seal will need to be replaced again in the future because the of this. I'm sure its not cheap.
I would recommend every 7th generation Malibu owner to go underneath their car and take a white rag, wipe the bottom of the transmission, and see if there is pink fluid, if so, you may have the same problem I did.

Had it back to the dealer. They had it for four days. Got a new Suburban this time. That thing is huge.
Anyway, they had difficulty finding the leak. They placed some dye in the tranny and eventually found the leak with a black light. The pan had a slight deformation along the rim where the seal is. I guess it couldn't be seen by the naked eye.
They replaced the pan and I got the car back this morning. Of course I will keep an eye on it to make sure the problem is fixed.

An SRX and new Burb??? Geez. Good dealer you have. Ive been put in a Malibu LT both times. :(:(
Glad that they got it fixed. Did you look at the old pan to see how bad it was deformed?
