: Driver Side Power Window goes down, but not up?

I have a 99' malibu,
I left work and rolled down my window all the way, the only problem is that it didn't go back up.

I have reason to believe it still goes down because I hear the 'clicking' noise when pressed (like if you try to roll up a window that is already rolled up).

However, I do not hear that noise when I try to roll the window up.

I checked fuses, opened up my door panel and looked at all the wires. They all seem to be intact, but I do not own a multimeter.

The window seems to be on track.

What are the possible causes for my problem?

Thanks,
Joe.

Not sure if this has the same design as the power windows on my wife's rendezvous, but if it does, it is likely the clips that pull the window down and lift it up.
The clips connect to the bottom of the glass and then are connected to the power window cable (which runs in a metal channel). I've had to replace the plastic clips 2x so far on my wifes rendezvous. It seems GM changed the material because the original were white and the new ones are black. They seem more sturdy.

Hope this helps,

Tyson

May also be the switch. You may be able to wire a by-pass across the switch to see if that brings the window back up. If the by-pass works the switch is bad.

I have an Aztek (the wife likes it :() that has the same problem. Today I fixed it for the 3rd time and used quite a bit of epoxy on the clips and cable in hopes it will be the final fix before trade in.

well, it turns out it was the switch. Ordered that and put it in, window works fine now.
