Hi,

Just brought my 99 malibu (171,000) miles back from a garage. What they wanted to do (replace all the seals) didn't sound right to me...

I just read a previous post from another person... they haven't updated on what they did to fix it... so here goes:

Intermittant rough shift from any gear to D.
Rough shift from 1 to 2. Then smooth from there.

This happened about 6 months ago for about 3 days, then cleared up on it's own.

No error codes on the computer.

Does it sound like all the seals need to be replaced, or does it sound like the filter and transmission fluid needs to be flushed?

Any ideas/thoughts/help (related to the problem above) is appreciated!

Does it have a SES light when it does it, then it goes out? Usually when they shift hard like you describe it is cause they are on the way out. Changing the fluid on a tranny with that many miles might make it worse. I had a friend who had a '00 3.1L that would do that for a while, then clear up for weeks, then do it again. It ended up being his tranny.

The check engine light does not come on.
