I did a research for the MSRP including transportation and without any incentive for a base LS, 2LT and LTZ models with no option on GM US et CDN sites and GM Canada is selling the LTZ way too high compared with GM US and when you add equipment like sunroof and V6 package, the difference is even much higher.

Presently, $CDN is almost at par with $US and with the free trade, there is no duty on car in Canada. Now I understand why there is not so much LTZ sold in Canada but I don't understand why GM Canada is selling the LTZ so high compared with US.

LS Model
US : US$ 22,545.
CDN : CDN$ 25345.
Diff.: + $ 2,800. (+12.42%)

2LT Model
US : US$ 25,895.
CDN : CDN$ 29,110.
Diff.: + $ 3,215. (+12.42%)

LTZ Model
US : US$ 27,675.
CDN : CDN$ 34,100.
Diff.: + $ 6,425. (+23.22%)

LTZ + sunroof + V6
US : US$ 30,120.
CDN : CDN$ 37,700.
Diff.: + $ 7,580. (+25.17%)

And sales taxes are near 14% in Canada !

I don't suppose the law would let you buy one in the US and take it home, eh?

You absolutely can. Some vehicles you can't because they don't meet Canadian crash test requirements, but I think all GM vehicles do.

You would just have to pay to get it into Canada and have the vehicle registered in Canada. I have had many friends do this (however not with new vehicles). When our dollar is on or close to par, you save a LOT of money.

The only problem is the warranty. I think GM Canada do not honor the warranty on new car bought in US so you must return in the US to get service on warranty. I think the vehicule must be a least 6 month old (registered in the US) to get the warranty in Canada.

3 words,
Value Added TAX .
V.A.T, the same thing bad politicians now want to do here in the US also.
(remember in November)

As govt consumes more and more of the G.D.P , V.A.T becomes there food.

I was going to buy somthing from a UK website recently,
and saw that the value added tax was an additional 17%,
but my US adresse got me out of it,
for now.

Wow! I am glad to live in US. I am also glad to live in a state (VA) where the auto sale tax is smaller than the others (3%). Just wonder what state has the lowest auto sale tax?

Try Oregon - no state sales tax. Not sure about the vehicles, though, but I'd wager it's 0% as well.
