So I have a cluck noise from the front end when starting from dead start.
I changed the driver ball joint last night and that did not fix it.

99 Malibu 92K 3.1 motor

What else might it be.

Try to tighted the bolt going straight up thru the lower A arm its the bolt that goes thru the hockey puck. It is loose, and use a big breaker to tighten it. Let me know how it turns out. Good luck.

Just check every bolt in the front suspension it could be any one of them. Also could be a motor mount loose or broken maybe a tranny mount.
