: My GMLink
Does anyone use MY GMLink?
I have my Equinox and my wife's Malibu setup on this site.
Today I wanted to look up something in the online manual for the Malibu and noticed it has the wrong manual. The manual was for the Malibu Classic.
Anyone else get the wrong manual ?

Just signed on. I'm getting the Malibu Classic manual too.
The online manual is handy, but not when it's for the wrong car :)
I have used it several times when I was too lazy to go out to the Equinox.
DOACanada 07-04-2008, 03:59 AM What is My GMLink?
jskibisky 07-04-2008, 05:55 AM GMLink... which is changing to a new Yahoo-hosted site... is an online owner's center for GM vehicles. It provides service reminders, newsletters, ownership tips, care and maintenance information, online access to the owner's manual and (if you provide your car's VIN) will provide recall information. There are links to other GM sites... OnStar, GM Card, GMAC financial and insurance... I signed up especially for the recall information.
DOACanada 07-04-2008, 05:56 AM Hmmm....Thanks will have to check this out.
DOACanada 07-04-2008, 06:01 AM That sucks....Just tried it and since I am in Canada it directs to me a site I am already registered on and I can't get to the My GMLink site you have access to. :O(
jskibisky 07-04-2008, 06:45 AM I know that the Chevy site lists this link ...
http://www.gm.com/gmownercenter/
... can you get there ?
DOACanada 07-04-2008, 06:59 AM Problem is it is gm.com; which means it is still U.S. based.....I have to go throught gmcanada.com or gm.ca

I wrote into the site about this problem and will let you know if I get a response. I'd love to have an electronic copy of the owner's manual, but not for a Classic!

Same here. Maybe if enough of us pester them, they will change it.
Seth Matthews from GM Owner Center called today and said they would work on getting the correct manual up on the site. He said it may take a week.
DOACanada 07-07-2008, 07:30 AM Good to know! too bad I cannot access it. :O(

The trip was good, but Debbie's Dad passed away the day after we got home.
The last couple weeks have not been pleasant :(
DOACanada 07-07-2008, 09:52 AM Sorry to hear that Lee....My condolenses to you and your wife.

So there you go!
I'm still seeing the PDF file for the Classic, but the person I talked to said it may take a week to get it changed. I hope they have the 08 and newer Malibu in a PDF format.
DOACanada 07-09-2008, 10:18 AM Would be nice if the did a PDF than I could read up on the manual.
Seth Matthews from GM Owner Center called again this week to see if the correct manual is showing on the web site.
I called him back this morning and told him the manual has not ben changed to the current model.
I'm not holding my breath waiting for the new manual.

Yeah, it would be great if someone who manages that site actually was reading this forum. My experience has been this: I complained through the site that the wrong manual was online, then I got a call from some very nice person saying they would look into it, and THEN I started getting calls at work (when I didn't have the info in front of me) saying that they needed my vehicle's VIN to address my problem. I finally got an email to that effect, and luckily remembered once I got home (when I had time to go the car and write it down) to respond with the VIN. 'Haven't heard anything since, and the site hasn't changed.
My complaints are 1) After all this time, nothing has been done; and 2) The repeated calls asking for my VIN. For crying out loud, my VIN is entered on the site, so it's in their database. If these folks are actually managing their website, can't they just look it up? And why does my individual VIN matter anyway? If I tell them that the online manual for an '08 Malibu (not Classic) isn't online, can't they make the determination whether I'm right or wrong just by looking at the site, without knowing my VIN?
I get the impression that we're dealing with bureaucrats who really don't know what they're doing and aren't working diligently to solve this problem. I'm by no means an expert on this subject, but I've worked on enough websites to know that the hardest part of this entire process would be obtaining the manual itself (which someone at GM could email to them!). Posting it to the site should take all of five minutes max.
OK, that's my rant...I'm going away now...

kc650 08-08-2008, 01:19 PM Here's an update:
Someone called me last night from the GM Owner Center asking AGAIN for my VIN, which I gave them. After I explained AGAIN what the problem is, the rep said that the site is in transition and they are targeting having all the changes made (and the correct manual posted, presumably) by August 29.
We'll see.
Thanks for the update. I was going to call the GM Owner Center again this week, but forgot.
I saw where it's mentioned in another thread that the correct manual is now showing when you go to the GM Owners Center.
peterh 03-17-2009, 09:48 AM For what it is worth I do have an electronic version of the manual (PDF) format, which was available prior to the site being moved to Yahoo.
If anyone wants a copy please PM me and I will send it out.
Hope this helps.

The only file I ever saw on the GM Owners Center the last year, was for the Malibu Classic. Is this what you have?
Anyone can save the PDF file for the new Malibu from the GM Owners Center. When you click on the file it will ask you if you want to open or save the file.
Speedster 03-17-2009, 12:34 PM GM Owner center (which is currently not working for me) has the 2009 manual posted properly. So my condolences to 2008 owners -- that's kinda lousy for you.

The correct manual for the 2008 is also posted.

Nope it is for the 2009 model, but from the previous posts seems the issue has been solved:)
kc650 03-18-2009, 02:00 PM As of about a month ago, the 2008 owner's manual was for the '08 Classic. As you can see from my comments earlier in the thread, I have complained to the site several times about the correct manual not being posted, and I had all but given up on this ever being changed.
HOWEVER...thanks to seeing these latest posts, I checked again today and, indeed, the 2008 (not Classic) Malibu manual is online. Woo-hoo!
