so far, this is one of the best mods i've done on a vehicle and like it for what little effort it took, it made a huge difference.

i purchased another set and had my body shop paint them.
I wash it just like I wash the car.

I like that...it looks smooth. My car is Golden Pewter so leaving mine gold actually works out in making the gold flakes stand out more.

bignick - Looks nice....Great idea on having them painted.

How much was the second set?

Looks good, I usually remove mine totally but it s a lease and the front ones did not appear to be glued on so if I remove them there would be a hole.

cerbomark - Are you sure about the hole? That sucks....I am the same as yourself I prefer to remove them usually.

yeah i usually remove mine too, theres a hole on the front and the back.
i think the set ran me around $30

I was told by the body shop that the gold surface on these emblems are "unpaintable", so I wonder how your guy managed to do it?

It does seem like the paint wouldn't be able to bond to it, but I would really like to do this to my car as well....

Would it be difficult to do on my own?

wouldnt you just need to sand it down a little so the paint would stick?

sand and paint - simple

or just get a vinyl overlay - ryan at grafxwerks.com does it so nice in a ton of colors finished etc

Does anyone sell overlays or I have to custom order it?

Removing the wording on the rear would really take the 'Stealth' theme to a whole another level.

i took the malibu and lt badging and the square GM badging off the side of the car right in the parking lot after i signed my lease. and 2 days later had the bowties painted white to match. free. ah the perks of working for chevy.

Has anyone done a vinyl overlay instead of getting them painted?

My girlfriend's dad OWNS a company that does large and small scale printing. One of the things they "specialize" in is actually full vehicle wraps, or just simple decals. So basically I could get vinyl to overlay the gold bowties on my black 'bu. I was just wondering if anyone else has done/seen vinyl instead of paint, and if it would look just as good (or if you can even tell!).

Thanks in advance!

Yeah mine are Vinyl,, I used Oracal Vinyl, laid a peice over by hand, heat shrunk it to the bowtie and cut it out

It should be easy enough by sanding the gold one and buying rattle can from the dealer and wet sanding and then a nice clear coat also then wet sanded and polished.

a scotch brite pad is all you need to scuff them, then spray some adhesion promoter and paint em and done. i'll post a how to up when i do my new ones.
