Its a shame. My other car is a 2002 mercury Mountaneer. Its got 60677 miles on it and never had a major problem. I can tell you I have gone through 1 battery, 2 sets of front rotors and break pads, 1 set of rear rotors pads and shoes, a $47 sensor and 2 sets of tires. My wife drives is back and forth from NY to PA (poconos) and its a v6 and I get good mileage on the high way. No major problems . Consumer reports gave it a recommeded buy back in 2002 they were on the money. Believe me I was suprised I had no faith in a FORD products but my wife liked it, I was always a GM guy. I hate to see it go, and I may buy another mercury before they go. Unfortunatly thats the car market today.

Well they are all re-badged Fords. So nothing is gonna be "lost". A Mountaneer is just a re-badged Explorer.

Be careful with the rebadging jabs Silver... Don't tell anyone but, I think GM has mastered the rebadging thing... LOL:D

Oh I never said they didn't. Almost all companies do now, some just overdue it, and don't make the cars "different" enough. ;)

IMO GM is the world's worst at "badge engineering". Want to know why the company has so much overhead... b/c they make at least one clone of every single car. The entire GMC brand is clones and really needs to be done away with.

Good job Ford for identifying waste and eliminating it. Now can you do the same with Lincoln?

Lincoln is their Cadillac, so i don't see that happening.

And how many Lincolns do you see on the road compared to Cadillac? Obviously something isn't working. They have a lot of work ahead of them if they want to shed the "Grandpa's Car" image.

Yes, I think I agree in a majority way. To me, Lincoln is OK though because Lincoln = Buick
Nothing is Ford's Cadillac.

Ever since a 1992 Ford Tempo in the family, Ford has been on our s*** list. Dangerous happenings afoot there. They're almost off :-)

See I think Lincoln is their Cadillac, and Mercury was their Buick....
