glad to be here.. It seems my dads car has abit of a problem. i'll keep it sweet and simple..
car has 107k, intake gaskets have been replaced aswell as plugs, thermastat, wires, ect within the last 1,000 miles..
heres the problem..
i was taking it to my friend to have the a/c charged cuase i lost my hose/filler..half way there (40 min) it started to jerk between 10-15mph (1st gear)..Then it started jerking really hard when i put it in drive..reverse isnt as bad but noticable..all the rest of the gears have a very slight jerk...no slipping and the fluid is at the proper level.
at the same time this issue started i got a cel p0113 , p1111 and a p1189 wich is the iat sensor and from what i've researched it could be a bad connector (pin).... the engine oil sensor (p1189) is a diff story and dont think that matters in reguards to the trans..

It sounds like you know what the problem is already. It's saying the voltage drop across the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is >= 5V. Chances are there is an electrical open in the wiring. I'm not sure where the sensor is located on your car but look around between the air cleaner housing and intake manifold. The connector shoud only have two wires. With the ignition on, 5V should be present on one of the wires.

would the iat problem affect the trans shifting? prob not but for everything to take a shit at once is kinda wierd.

It would make the motor run rough. If you mean by "jerk" like horse bucking, I suppose it could.

its runing a tad rougher but barely noticable.. i just cant see the iat making the trans shift hard...i'm used to the ford sohc/dohc v8 motors...not used to the ohv 3.1's

With the IAT sensor out of the loop, the ECM is not reaching the normal closed-loop fuel operation. A lot of weird things can happen in that state, including PCM anomalies you are seeing. If you are asking if there's something else going on, my answer is "not likely." Also, keep driving it like that can damage the catalytic converter in a hurry.

so fix the iat (connection) and see what happens?? my dad is about to buy another car if it's the trans..thanks for all the help though, i'm unfamiliar with these car's so forgive my ignorance..

The IAT sensor circuit is a simple thermister and thus easy to troubleshoot. The ECM isn't trusting other sensor inputs until the IAT sensor's back online. It follows that you can't troubleshoot any other problem until you take care of the IAT sensor. But, my educated guess is that the transmission is okay. Of course, if it turns out that the ECM is bad, buying another car will make sense.

I had a '91 F150 5.0 that started doing that out of the blue. Turned out to be the IAT. I'd be driving down the road on cruise control and it was good I was wearing my seatbelt! I know the bucking and jerking you're speaking of.
