OHHHH GOD.
Don't get me started on this idiot. My dad and I rant about him over dinner all the time.
No, we shouldn't force our kids to speak Spanish. That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard of. I learned Spanish because my high school forced me to. And I will most likely forget most of it in a few years. Why? Because I live in AMERICA, where we speak ENGLISH.
Now think of it this way. The reason this idiot Obama wants people to learn Spanish is so we can communicate with people from Latin America and such. Well, Mr. Obama, explain to me why nobody learned Chinese when my family immigrated here. Explain why nobody learned French when French people moved here. The answer is simple. We speak ENGLISH HERE. If my parents can do it from thousands of miles away, then why the hell can't people who are RIGHT ACROSS THE BORDER learn English?! Why the hell should we cater to them, they're coming to this country, they should be expected to be able to communicate with the populace, I shouldn't have to speak Spanish just because they can't understand English, that's their own damn problem.
It's simple really. You come to a country, you learn the language. My parents did it, my grandparents did it, millions of other people did it, and now this idiot is expecting us to teach our kids Spanish just because a group of people can't speak English? Spare me, Obama.
I hope to God he doesn't get elected, because he will destroy this country until nothing's left. The only good thing that could possibly result from this is that nobody will ever vote for a liberal again. I honestly don't know why so many people support him, all I hear out of him is "Changeeeeee," but I never hear how he plans to change things. Obama has no idea what he's doing, and if elected, will be the worst president that this country has ever had.

OK, I will try not to step on any toes here...

But let me give you a Canadian's perspective....I don't really think he is saying that every child HAS TO Learn Spanish, but rather that it should be mandatory that every child learns a second language.

Take Canada for example. We have two national languages....English and French....Mind you it is "thrust" upon us while we are growing up to take French in school, but being older now (and hopefully a little wiser) it would certainly help to be able to be bilingual. Be it French or another language.

As Canadians we are well "vested" in to who is going to be elected President. Interesting that in Canada we have what is considered to be 4 major national parties, not two as in the U.S. - Although some are just hybrids of others.

Just thoughts I would share some views of mine as a Canadian (please understand though I am not speaking for all Canadians as these are just my personal views.)

It already is mandatory, as most high schools require you to learn a second language to graduate. I'm all for learning different languages, but I think that being forced to learn a specific language just to cater to a specific group of people is wrong. I took Spanish because I already understood a little Spanish and didn't want to take Latin (dead language) or French (voulez vous couchez avec moi?). Nowhere did being able to communicate with Latinos influence my decision.

See this is a load of bullshit, I will never vote for this guy. First his wife says she wasn't proud of America until they elect her husband, then Obama makes those negative comments about Pennsylvania citizens, now this shit. I will never ever learn Spanish, the Spanish should learn English if anything.

When my family came to this country in the 1880's they adapted to the customs of this country and became Americans, everyone that comes to this nation should do the same. I know we have no national language, but I think it should be made English to protect people from scumbags like this. I know in Florida if you don't speak Spanish you can't get a job, I don't want this to happen to the rest of the nation. Forgive me for my anger, but comments like this really boil my blood.

Plus, he still won't denounce that idiot Jeremiah Wright. Just makes me wonder if Wright still influences him.

I do agree it would be nice to learn a second language but it should be of our own choice, as stated before being forced to learn spanish is dumb. I'm all for people coming to this country to seak a better life but learn the freaking language. I get so made with major companies (Lowes) putting spanish on all their signs, we shouldn't have to adapt to them they should adapt to us. Welcome to America, now learn the language.

Yes, I forgot about that. I add that to my list of complaints about this asshole.

After seeing that movie not only has my anger risen, but now I am deeply worried about the future of this nation. I hope to God this guy doesn't get elected, he will destroy this nation. They need to collect money from people and get this on every news channel in this nation, and see what a threat this guy is to our future.

Sometimes I think the American public are a bunch of sheep blindly following one another when the next new fad comes in all the while ignoring the facts. I the case of Obama that is what is happening. He seems not to be able to do anything wrong even when time after time "issues" come out. I too hope people think twice and am really worried that they won't. They will be led by the spin doctors all over the media airwaves, kind of like how Toyota and Honda have dupped the American public into thinking they do wrong (could not help but throw the car ref. into this seeing as how it is a car forum!!)for all these years.

EXACTLY!
The majority of Americans are exactly like sheep. Once a fad comes around, everyone goes along with it, nobody thinks about whether or not it's good for the country, but who cares, everyone else is doing it. The popularity of toyotas and other Japanese imports proves this. Sure, they were pretty reliable cars way back when, but now, they're no better than American cars, even worse in some aspects. But people keep buying them, no matter how horrible they look. Scions are complete jokes, insults to automotive design, whoever designed the honda element needs to have his eyes checked, the camry and tundra both look bloated and overweight, but people still buy them. Why? Because they have friggin' sombreros on the front of the car. toyota's quality standards have slipped so drastically that it's only a matter of time before people come crawling back to GM and Ford, fed up with their toyotas.
Consumer Reports is the biggest joke I have ever seen in my life. They basically advertise for toyota in every single issue. It's so obvious that they're biased against Detroit, yet people still believe them and rely on them for information.

Obama? He's no different. He's just a fad too. He's popular because people are tired of Bush and because his catchphrase is "Change." Too bad he doesn't even know how he's going to change things.
